Not that weird considering I just had honey glazed steak last night. No berries, but plenty of honey and minced garlic.

Linux@lemmy.ml•SUSE Laying Off 10% Of Its Workforce Due To AI & Automation
12·2 days agoCannot wait for the news that SUSE becomes the latest target of exploits and such due to vibed cuck code… all because they fired people who knew how to do their job correctly for “AI and automation”.
We need no nonsense leaders who will do everything in their power to kill generative AI like centuries ago. Another project is slowly killing itself by a thousands cuts by a radioactive knife.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•When you come to a lemmy group for a laugh but there's always one
1·2 days agoNot a post, but I basically saw this same thing happen in a yt comment thread of a reaction video for a show. Someone basically did the whole “x did y, probably” kinda joke and someone had to come in and ruin it.
Edit:
I’m wrong. I found the comment and it’s more of a “x didn’t do y, but are we gonna wait until x does?” kinda joke. Also, the joke ruiner just had to make the joke accurate to the character/situatiob in the show because clearly that made the joke funnier, am I right? Ugh…

Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•The Prime Minister of Japan was assassinated in broad daylight not even 5 years ago
5·4 days agoFrom what I’ve heard, their yakuza gangs are basically more into somehow worming their way into businesses and gutting them financially alongside more digital crime type stuff since the government has made it extremely difficult for them to live normal lives. So it definitely still exists.
The thing is that you basically never see/hear about it in the news. It’s like how you never hear about crime happening in other countries unless it’s a major thing, and even then it’s usually involving people from your country.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was your most recent dream? Tell me your dreams for a free shitty analysis.
3·5 days agoI think the last one I had, or at least had stuck with me, is a weird one. So, to start, it’s completely unrealistic since I know my dad would neved act like he did in the dream… outside of when I was a child and he was either playing with me or trying to calm me down.
Yeah, so the parts I remember are my room having LED lights around the edge of the ceiling, purple-ish pink. It was soft lighting. Room was arranged how it was back when I had the dream. So, the parts I remember is my dad coming in and rubbing his beard all across my stomach, shirt up, despite me telling him to stop repeatedly. I couldn’t stop him.
Next part I remember is them being in a car, behind my mother who was driving, my oldest brother in passengers seat. We were in a tunnel with that same purple colour lighting it up. We talk about what happened because dream me found it traumatic. I remember the conversation ending with me being told and agreeing that I should talk to my father about what happened, followed by leaving the tunnel and the dream ending.
Not the craziest dream I’ve had, but yeah.

It wasn’t a big deal since it was just a college student government set up thing in the afternoon when most people would be done with classes. So not much lost by me not being able to attend.
Ran into a snag that prevented me from going to a Halloween thing, so no plans.
I had planned on wearing my partial fursuit with a long sleeve shirt that had fake blood on it, a pair of dirtied jeans, and my old boot like shoes that are already pretty dirty and mangled from usage. You know, casual killer 3 eyed were-snow leapord. But now I don’t have a reason for it other than if I really wanna do it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Pope Leo calls for the disarmament of AI: ‘Machines are tools, not persons’English
3·6 days agoAs much as I dislike both options, I know it’s not a guarantee with a priest that my hypothetical kid in this scenario would be harmed when compared to what generative AI does to the mind. So I think I’ll take my chances with a priest any day.
Edit:
At least with a priest, if they do anything harmful, there is a person who can be held responsible, whether that be justice by my own 2 paws or by a crumbling justice system.
Mostly dependent on whether I want to be quiet with my device or am doing art, or if I’m doing like anything else. I didn’t know the last laptop I bought even had touchscreen capabilities, and I wasn’t really used to them on a laptop outside of a faulty toaster of a laptop I got nearly a decade ago, all before getting a new laptop a few years back.
Over time I’ve basically only ever used the touchscreen for digital art and the sort, playing certain games but don’t want others in the library to hear my mouse clicks, and taking notes for like a single college course.
Otherwise, I don’t really care about it since most of the time if I’m using it, the cursor will absolutely jump places because something like the side of my wrist or part of my forearm will be detected. Yeah, I need one of those drawing gloves to fix the problems I have, but that ain’t happening since I have more important matters to attend to.
They don’t understand the quantity of powdered blue we make! Jessie! We need to water!

Technology@lemmy.world•Valve admits Steam has an AI slop and cloning problem, but says 'we don't want to be gatekeepers telling developers which tools they should or shouldn't use'English
22·8 days agoDepends. If they continue to use it on a regular basis, I give them a couple months before their ability starts to decline and theb apply yahoo to them. Otherwise if it’s more of a one off thing, I still personally do not trust the code but wouldn’t call them a yahoo yet.

52·8 days agoIf we are talking autocomplete for IDEs, not generative AI. Also, a lot of the predictive code lines thing are just based off of what’s most likely to come next, as ( most likely ) trained off of others work. Whereas I’d argue that is different enough from an LLM since it’s basically the IDE version of the autocomplete on your smart phones keyboard app ( if you keep it on ). For LLMs, I would argue that they generate generic code that majority of the time needs cleaned up in order to even function since it will often, especially from back before I ditched it, look at your request saying you are using a specific language version and disregard because it thinks it can just use any code from that language and it’ll work. Don’t even get me started on how generative AI companies purposefully make their “software” write code in a way that is extremely bloated snd could easily be cut down to a couple lines just so they can say how their AI ( emphasis on artificial ) can write more code faster.
If we’re talking filters on art programs like Krita, also historically not completely generative AI. Majority of them ( at least on Krita ) rely on transforming your art by whatever the code says it should do as compared to generating a new image/texture. No prompt nor a need to mass steal art online in order for these filters to work. As for even something like an autofill colourize mask thing, that relies more on some form of gap detection, which isn’t considered generative AI, AFAIK. Just an advanced bucket fill tool.
If we’re talking things like ESRGAN, sure, and I absolutely have problems with that as well, but they’re ever so slightly lesser versions of the problems I have with LLMs and such.
I am well aware that some forms of it have existed for long before LLMs, but they were much more tame and weren’t being used to destroy the internet and planet to the degree it’s being used now.

226·8 days agoI’d say not only labelled, but at the very least if we ain’t ostracizing generative ai being used in any part of the process, we should at least have the dignity to have it quarantined. I for one don’t feel like buying and installing malware because a yahoo who cannot actually read their own code decides to upload to Steam, let alone literally any other platform.

I stopped playing the Banjo-Kazooie recomp a while ago, so I decided ti boot it up. My mistake! I am unable to play the Clanker’s Cavern level with music on because I HATE the deep water mixed with Clanker and his bloodshot eyes! I never played BK growing up, so as an adult, Clanker scares the shit outta me my first time playing, so that’s probably why I stopped playing until yesterday.
That level gives me a run for my money on most hated level in a 3D platformer collectathon, being probably just as hated for me as Gloomy Galleon from DK64. That level genuinely terrified kid me ( moreso than even evil jack in the box ever could ) and still makes me extremely unsettled to this day. I especially hate the little cut scene for the boss fight. Never thought I would ever find a level worse or on equal footing as that!
Otherwise, it was perfectly fine.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•[Discussion] What was the first Steam game you ever purchased?
5·11 days agoOh god! Now I need to check my purchase history from maybe 12-13 years ago and hope it isn’t a cringy game! BRB!
Edit:
Good new! It isn’t completely cringe, but it’s Garry’s Mod, with the next game being Goat Simulator. So I wasn’t a complete cringe lord… just halfway cringe!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?
3·11 days agoI, for one, don’t fully understand my optimism, but I like to attribute some of it to a sort of autistic stubbornness that things must get better at any cost. Combine that with a little bit of delusion, and you get how I am able to remain optimistic.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux 7.4 Sound Changes Merged: "The AI Flood Continues"
717·12 days agoCannot wait until a decade has passed and all the smart folk have already found ways to accurately detect generative AI code, have moved onto our own better OS ( vibe/cuck code free ) that runs faster than every other OS. All whilr we get to enjoy our rose garden from atop our high towet while everyone else baths in their vibe sewage, unable to remember their own name without chatgpt reminding them every second.
I’m more than down to make it a reality as I am slowly learning digital art and practicing and will most likely be able to pitch in real art for it.

As much as I hate generative AI, at the very least, having to disclose is probably the better solution than an outright ban. At least with disclosure, you can make the decision to not download something someone tried their hardest to basically go full CEO on and claim all the credit for despite not actually doing any work on it.
