Man, I feel for these guys. High-quality content is time consuming to research and produce, and website creation in particular has been low-hanging fruit for LLMs for a couple of years. It would infuriate me to know that I just came up with a cool trick or insightful workflow improvement that was immediately going to be sucked into a trillion-dollar plagiarism machine.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Can anyone suggest any self-built Apple TV alternativesEnglish
7·7 days agoIt may be circumstantial but I just checked and Netflix and Disney+ are both only rendering at 720p in Linux (Kubuntu 26.04) in Firefox and Chromium for me. Maybe official chrome is better, I don’t have it installed at the moment.

24·7 days agoThe trouble you’ll quickly run into is that with a non-iOS/Android/Windows platform your streaming sites won’t go above 720p, and your attempts to run sandboxed Android apps will pretty much all fail. Now if all you mainly do is serve local content from e.g. Jellyfin that’s not much of a problem, but as you already own an AppleTV that’s probably not your only use case.
Sometimes the best version of myself just needs a donut. Nothing wrong with that.
I would have thought it was the excerpt explaining the differences between
function foo() { … }andconst foo = () => { … }

Technology@lemmy.world•SpaceX no longer needs NASA, and that’s a problem for America’s space agency: “NASA desperately needs SpaceX, and SpaceX knows it, and Elon knows it.”English
1193·8 days agoRevoke launch licenses until NASA gets what they need. Export ban on company and tech. Nationalize launch assets if absolutely necessary. Or at least threaten these things. SpaceX needs starlink, the kind of AI revenue they’d otherwise need is never going to materialize. Force them to play ball.

1·12 days agoLevel 4 is thinking “how can this even working?!,” spending the next 3 days delving into the bowels of the code, being so horrified by the unholy string of decisions that allows the prod codebase to function, and then having the experience and maturity to know it’s better to leave it the hell alone.

The true luxury is having both of those as options to choose from.

So they took out two of the most useful things that LLMs can do.
