This is why it works great for my gaming machine and my steam deck, but I cannot use any atomic distro for my production devices.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Discord is rewriting its entire desktop client in Rust with a native GPUI-based interface (dropping both Electron and React Native)English
593·2 days agoFuck discord and everyone involved with it.
The fifth element in the ass.
This is how I do it with syncthing, and is works great. Aegis on Android and Gnome authenticator on Linux.
In my case, I stopped using Amazon, all meta services, twitter, and all that crap ages ago. Never used adobe except for the pdf reader when I used windows (9 years ago). No fucking idea what “atislan” is.
That’s exactly right. I got Proton Family about 13 or 14 months ago witha 2 years subscription, and am getting ready to run stalwart as my email server on a VPS and call it a day.
Have been testing for about 2 weeks, and after finally getting it right, it has been incredibly solid.
I tested the e2ee with my own proton email (pgp) and it’s flawless.
Before stalwart, I tried to have my own email server, what a pain in the ass that was. Not anymore.

Technology@lemmy.world•'America hates data centers,' new database reveals more than 90% of 10,000 public comments are negativeEnglish
3·3 days agoA web hosting data center and a Slopware data center are 2 completely different animals.
And where are they going to host a site? On a napkin? Fewer people have access to the hardware needed to self host today due to the ridiculous prices of hardware.

4·6 days agoYeah, I’ve been test-driving stalwart with encryption and shit in a VPS, so far it’s been pretty solid. Using SMTP2Go as a backend for sending to avoid the risk of having my VPS IP blacklisted if something goes wrong.
The moment our subscription ends, if everything keeps going as good with stalwart, I’m jumping ship immediately.

Technology@lemmy.world•Proton’s CEO Cancels AI ‘Re-Interviews’English
59·6 days agoI swear that money nukes brain cells.
“Due to insufficient velocity,” Proton is not on track to achieve its annual recurring revenue target by the end of the year, one internal document obtained by 404 Media reads. Proton’s year-over-year growth is also “far away from what the market today considers to be good,” and, “By all metrics that matter, we’re an underperforming company.”
What a bunch of imbeciles. People that use Proton are in it because they value security and privacy. Any AI produced code that’s not vetted is inherently insecure, and a huge “fuck you” to privacy as a whole.
“We’re no tmaking enough money fast enough, let’s go the slop-route”. Fucking idiot, what do you think is going to happen the moment the security crowd and the privacy crowd hear about this?
I for one have been preparing to jump ship from my family plan subscription the moment it expires, precisely because of this bullshit Yen has been pushing in the last year or so, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
I do believe that Yen started proton from a good place, but as is natural for these fuckers, the sight of money completely replaces whatever working segments of their brains were working with shit.

I’m glad the last phone I got was the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Guess I’ll do the full 7 years of GOS updates then.
