Small, if true!

Small, if true!

Wow. Yes. Some of my favorite memories are when my Dad would turn what could have been a half hour away from school into a half day, to spend more time together away from school and work.

Just because something isn’t mainstream doesn’t mean it would not make plenty of money.
As was pointed out above, Motorola probably underestimates the casual folks who would pay extra to have GrapheneOS pre-installed, because the GrapheneOS developers are so rabidly against trusting anyone else to do the install.
But many GrapheneOS users just like having a qucik toggle for the microphone and camera.
(Side question: Why the fuck hasn’t such a basic privacy feature made it into basic Android, anyway? Or has it, and I missed it?)
And yes, there’s always a buyer for a phone this expensive. For some people, it will be their only computer for five to ten years, anyway.

Yes. I’m waiting for a chill fork of GrapheneOS. I love what the developers have accomplished. LineageOS seems close, but not quite there with features, last I checked.
I was happy with decent default security and privacy in the past, and I could be, again, if it ever returns.
I would be glad to purchase a device from a trusted party, who pre-installed public source code, on open hardware.
I’ll be very pleased if Framework ever releases a phone.
And sure, most people, in general, are clueless, about most things. Point granted.
But the people with a clue about today’s brutal privacy situation want device that is reasonably assured to be respect their wishes, and not chained to the whim of some asshole CEO.
Perfect is lovely. But good enough can still sell very well.

lol. I don’t wish him any harm, I just want him far from those he might continue to harm.
My poker face kicked in, just reading this.
It is important to me that four-year-old’s named Braxton not learn from my face how deeply stupid I think their name is.

The other 1000?

He’s counting on Mars. Which isn’t insane. He should go. We’re right behind him.

I would chip in $25 to send him to space, unless it was a two-way ticket.

Not offering a pre-installed GrapheneOS version feels like a misstep. Plenty of people are aware of the brand for security and privacy, and would pay extra to have it pre-installed.
Maybe we will see some re-sellers pop up, but I would prefer direct-from-manufacturer.
Not to mention, they could get the keys right from day one and eliminate (Google’s) “alternate OS is booting” boogieman screen.

less established?
Motorola has made some really good phones, over the years.

Simply having GOS on your phone is meaningless if you don’t know how to use it properly.
Removing spyware from the phone of a complete non-techie means that non-technie has a spyware-free phone.
Sure, it won’t solve every privacy or security concern, but it outright solves a fuck-ton of privacy and security concerns, regardless of how technical the user is.
I’ve been handing GrapheneOS phones to young or elderly people in my life for several years, with very good results, compared to leaving them on iOS or stock malwared Android.
Holy fucking Christ, I don’t know if I ever ever gone 180 on an organization as quickly as I have on this one over the past week.
That’s true. They set a speed-run record for dumb-fuckery.
I think Andy Yen prefers that you use his entire title, which is “fucking dumbass lunatic CEO with a giant ego.”

If they’re foster kids, there’s a good chance the whole system is illegal under laws protecting foster kid’s privacy.
I would run the whole thing by an ally in the foster system, too. See if that doesn’t shut it down.

Sounds like it’s time for those bathroom locks to have an accident.
Limiting bathroom access can have health consequences.

Hey now, I’m not on Lemmy because I love Linux and despise the AI hype cycle.
I mean…I do love Linux…and I do despise the AI hype cycle…
But that’s not why I’m on Lemmy.
I mean, not the only reasons.

must be quarantined from the decision making processes of systems which affect anyone not similarly cognitively impaired.
So we should make them a CEO of a technology firm?
You can export your Aegis 2FA tokens and import them into a couple of different Linux desktop programs, including OTPClient.
https://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/com.github.paolostivanin.OTPClient
This allows configuring “one” MFA token with each service, but also having it on one or more Linux computers and even on multiple Android devices (Aegis can also import.)
I imagine it is unwise to go nuts with this. Each place the tokens are at carries some small risk.
But I feel much betfer having mine in two places than in just one.
Damn. You’re dropping truth bombs.
But I’m not sharing mine, both because it is embarrassing, and I would dox myself as the world’s 3rd worst MTG player.
