It’s almost always surmountable.

It can be hard, it can be tedious, it can be painful, it can be expensive, and it can be exhausting; talking about it with a defeatist attitude right off the bat means that one is taking zero responsibility and thatis the gross part.

We treat other adults as if they’re 100% responsible for their lives and choices, but they too are a product of their circumstances. We should have more grace for others and give them a chance to correct their trauma, and more grace for ourselves and give ourselves the permission to improve a bad hand dealt by life.
