Well if this isn’t the BBC once-a-fucking-gain spinning a story, sold as balanced news, to feed the right wing knobheads here in the UK. Where is the balance here clearly outlining all the harms to people, Americans and others? Where is the balanced observation about the economic impacts?
I agree that it leans in favour but there are multiple balanced comments throughout the article.
there has been no significant change in the number of people crossing the border
There is no indication the border wall has reduced migrant crossings
One study, from the Wharton School of Business, found that the H1-B changes would have ‘no significant impact’ on the wages of US-born workers, with any reduction in competition offset by reduced productivity growth
At the time, Trump said that the programme would boost the US economy. Its uptake, however, appears to be minimal so far. By April, only one applicant had been accepted (re: Gold card program)
But the tactics used by ICE in US cities have made many Americans grow uncomfortable, including many of those who supported stricter restrictions broadly
Operation Metro Surge, a two-month large scale enforcement action in Minneapolis in early 2026 that left two US citizens dead
Not enough in my opinion though. Maybe the BBC are playing it cautious due to the ongoing legal battle? But if that was the case, why create the article at all.
