With 99% counted in some districts, they already won the house and flipped 2 difficult Senate seats, so its basically guaranteed house and senate majority.

Probably not more than 55 senate seats at most, but thats up from 45+2 so yeah.

As of now, it’s over! The Mississippi seat is up for the Democrat by 34 votes. The Alaska Governor race probably goes to another election. About everything else is called.

This has been a huge flip year. I only hope that Congress actually uses its power and keeps the momentum going. I hope this is our generation’s 1930. I hope '28 is Blue Tsunami 2: Electric Boogaloo. I hope we have >40 years of Republican irrelevancy. I hope we get a 21st century New Deal. I hope there’s a future for the kids of today, including the ones I don’t have yet. I hope they grow up in a world that is good and wholesome and nurturing.

Yeah but since its not a filibuster beater and Trump still has Veto power unless between 6 and 12 Republican Senators grow a spine (won’t happen) it’s more likely just a lame duck congress.

Still, we can always write our senators to nuclear option the filibuster rules and pass healthcare and overturn citizens united. Just don’t make unreasonable expectations for 2028 voters to be disappointed by.

Except Trump doesn’t like to take a stance. He’s spineless. He probably won’t veto things. He’ll just leave them on his desk and forget until they become law.

          • Which means this is the Democrats’ second chance in a decade to do something. They dropped the ball when they had a trifecta between '21-'23 and this Congress showed them how it’s done. They need to take a page out of the Republican playbook, do away with decorum, and use a trifecta to fucking steamroll the opposition.

In this instance, it’s a chance for Congress to pass whatever legislation it wants to. And when it either sits on the president’s desk collecting dust or getting vetoed, they need to make the world’s biggest foam finger (ideally with the middle finger up) and point it straight at the Oval Office to tell Americans exactly who is keeping Congress from doing its job.

Technically, outside of budget matters, he has to sign them for them to become law. He tried to veto sanctions on Russia in his first term and his party forced his hand, so I wouldn’t call him a coward but I also admit he can be threatened properly if a total of 60 senators have grown spines.
