It makes the candidate weaker than he would otherwise be if everything else was equal, but you’re right that a candidate opposed by special interests can overall be stronger than a candidate not opposed by them. My point is just that you can’t judge a candidate’s strength or weakness as something independent of those attack ads.
Being the sort of candidate who motivates special interests to spend a fortune trying to stop you from getting elected makes you a weaker candidate, if all else is equal, where “weaker” here is referring to electability rather than ideology or the preferences of a Platonic ideal public.

Hah, no. We’ll have the year of the Linux desktop before that ever happens. Leftist candidates won because the Democrats were so strongly favored that even weak candidates won, but the leftists did worse than a generic Democrat would have done.
El-Sayed, for example, won Michigan 52.5 to 45.5 as of the current count. Meanwhile the Democratic candidate for governor Jocelyn Benson won 54.5 to 43.7. There were enough people voting for her but not for him to swing a normal election to the Republicans.
My own general impression is the opposite: that culture is the dominant factor. The USA, for example, is far more violent than many significantly poorer countries.
Japan does have much less crime than the USA, and this appears to be due to cultural differences.

An oddly positive portrayal of the sort of protest culture that I think residents of most other countries are glad not to share. Even French people aren’t happy with it - the main political consequence of the protests so far has been increased support for Le Pen by people who want forceful government action against the protestors.
The disconnect here between what Trump clearly said that he would do and what she apparently expected him to do is so large that I’m not even feeling any schadenfreude. It would be like laughing at a disabled person.
I suspect that the majority of voters would prefer a policy of tolerance over the Republican party’s performative cruelty, but “we should treat these harmless eccentrics with basic human dignity” is one thing while transgender participation in sports or permanent procedures done on children are another.
Speed doesn’t matter as much if you’re going to be parked for half the day or overnight.
The apartment complex and workplace chargers I’ve seen all limit how long you’re allowed to leave your car parked at them. I suppose speed doesn’t matter in the sense that having to move your car 20 minutes later isn’t much less annoying than having to move it 4 hours later. Still, I wouldn’t want an EV without my own garage even if I never went on road trips. It seems like a pain.
Rather than assigning each finger the same value of 1, assign them values of 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16. Then there’s some combination of fingers that can represent any value from 0 to 1+2+4+8+16=31. It’s like using digits to count instead of tally marks.
