  • Democratic appropriators will gain wide latitude to investigate how the administration has been spending money. They plan to regularly call in budget chief Russell Vought, who they’ve accused of defying Congress’ intentions for how money should be spent.

DeLauro and Murray want to add guardrails to funding bills to protect against the administration’s attempts to cut spending. They secured language in September’s stopgap funding law temporarily blocking Vought’s proposal to give political appointees more control over grant money.

They need to call Vought in on the regular. They need to make sure they quote his own words at him. He’s the one that needs to feel “traumatized”. He needs to spend lots and lots and lots of time in the barrel.

“We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected,” said Vought, one of the architects of Project 2025, Republicans’ radical, right-wing blueprint for overhauling the government.

“When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains,” he went on. “We want their funding to be shut down so that the [Environmental Protection Agency] can’t do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so.

“We want to put them in trauma.”

  • Vought is relatively quiet and behind the scenes and a lot less performative than that idiot Hegseth, but even more than Hegseth, I want to see that little motherfucker pay.

Keep in mind he’s talking about Americans that are civil servants. This angry little shithead who is himself a “bureaucrat” set out to explicitly assault 2 million Americans that work for this country.

He needs to pay for that.

  • A whole lot of professed “independents” are actually Republicans who just don’t want to admit it, when you probe even just a little bit.

That’s why there is Murc’s Law and the term “reactionary centrists”.

And then a large portion of the others are just fence-sitters that are generally low-info, but throw in with what they think will be the “winning team”. Or vote for/against someone based on some arbitrary trait - they found the candidate tall/attractive, they didn’t like the way they laughed, etc…

Lastly: nearly everyone knows that elections are decided at the margins. No one contests that. But it’s not really like most “independents” are evaluating things on the merits like some set of perfectly rational actors. Just because elections that are nearly 50/50 and swung by the arbitrary whims of a few people that don’t profess allegiance to being R or D does not really speak to the actual independence of people that merely claim they are independent.

  • Getting Vought should be job #1.

That shitheel Vought said that civil servants should feel traumatized by Project 2025.

We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can’t do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so. We want to put them in trauma.

Not only does HE need to feel traumatized, but assholes within organizations like ICE need to feel traumatized.

Treating civil servants like that little creep did should be something that we need to come down like a ton of bricks on.

  • MeidasTouch had a cut of various cons like Mikey Johnson claiming the “polls were wrong” and there is lot of “energy” out there, etc.

Real 2020 energy when all these jagoffs were claiming donnie had it in the bag because of “enthusiasm” at his hate rallies and Biden was “campaigning from his basement” and “no one is going to his rallies”.

These people seem to be completely innumerate. Anecdotal experience among the self-selected at events like donnie’s stupid rallies is no way to really get a sense of how an election is going to turn out, FFS.
