Technology@lemmy.world•Sam Altman Crows That AI Is Now Smarter Than the Brightest Human Scientists: Sure, Sam.English
111·23 hours agoIt’s no wonder he’s saying that, because I don’t think his standards are particularly high.

1·2 days agoWeirdly enough, I know someone who works in construction and has a OnePlus 11, too; front and back shattered the first time he dropped it on the job.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•i repaired my phone on my own yesterday!English
1·2 days agoIt’s kinda dumb that most phones aren’t designed to be more durable. You can design the best looking glass and aluminium sandwich there ever was, at the end of the day people will still put a case on it to protect their $2000 device…

1·4 days agoThere really should be an annual contest to crown the lamest person on earth. Maybe we could start one on here.

123·5 days agoSaying that a whole generation of people are lame and then having one of the lamest pictures in the history of humanity taken of yourself, ok

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit is becoming "a logged-in-only experience"English
10·5 days agoAs crazy as it may sound, Reddit is a treasure trove of information, especially when it comes to niche technology stuff. Would be a shame for them to lock it all behind accounts, and in my case age verification.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats your opinion on touchscreen on laptop?English
3·6 days agoIf it’s a convertible it has its uses I guess considering you can turn it into essentially a big tablet, although I don’t like the keyboard being exposed on the bottom…
If it’s an ordinary laptop I really don’t see the point; among other issues it just feels awful to try and make more or less precise inputs when the screen hinge is actively fighting you by moving the screen back with every touch.
Then there are the smudges. I watch a lot of videos and stuff on my laptop and just can’t stand when the screen is all gunged up, it’s disgusting.

6·6 days agoHoly shit, I genuinely didn’t expect them to care. Good on ya, Finland!
I hope the plans for the data centre are suspended indefinitely, at the very least.

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple announces touchscreen MacBook Pro with OLED displayEnglish
3·7 days agoI’ve found that grease and dirt sticks the anti-glare coating almost like glue and honestly, I’m afraid of using anything more than distilled water to clean it because I’ve seen too many MacBook screens with horrible blotchy coatings caused by incorrect cleaning…

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple announces touchscreen MacBook Pro with OLED displayEnglish
8·7 days agoThis doesn’t make sense to me. Apple spent the last few years blurring the MacBook and iPad range, they’re even sticking the same SoCs in both and now this? What’s the killer feature here, the OLED?
They brought back the glowing Apple logo, though, just as everyone got used to not having it.
Edit: Just thought of the biggest problem I have with my MacBook; the fucking screen is so fucking hard to clean! I swear this move is a ploy to get people to buy their proprietary screen cloth.
Neil never disappoints with these lol

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Best electric toothbrush, Philips or Oral-BEnglish
31·8 days agoI just go with the Oral-B Pro line, never had any problems. I had one for I think 20 years and it still works fine but I just bought a new one for myself after moving away.
One thing though: watch which brush heads you’re getting. I bought a bundle with the toothbrush and 4 heads and those heads suuuck; way to few bristles, leaves you feeling like you’re brushing your teeth with a rock.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nintendo Loves You: No Plans To Abandon Physical Media Because 'Fans Enjoy It'. "We have no plans to abandon physical media. We know how much fans enjoy it."English
2·8 days agoThe Wii was the best example of what I meant by them trying out something new, being the follow-up to the GameCube’s poor sales, same with the DS.
They knew at the time they had to come up with something new and unique to capture the market.
