I would maybe hold off on choosing Bitwarden. Around the time they raised their pricing they started getting venture capitalist money so the enshittification there may be coming. As far as alternatives, the only other one I’ve used besides Proton is KeePass which could be make or break depending on how you setup the vault, I’d probably save it in something pCloud so you aren’t screwed should something happen to your server, but YMMV.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Looking for a user friendly replacement for Proton Mail + Proton Pass with alias generation
1·6 days agoI kind of looked around on the site, it kept mentioning fair use limits and that the number would be communicated effectively before any change, but I can’t see the current limit to email aliases and whatnot, if anyone can find that answer it’d be lovely.
I saw someone mention pCloud and thought I’d take a moment to point out that if you can afford a heftier upfront cost, pCloud has different levels of Lifetime plan and probably will have a decent Black Friday sale for it. That said, they could probably change the terms of that retroactively, I don’t know anything about the company itself, but still worth mentioning. Personally, I’d recommend something like on prem NextCloud (or similar) with backups going to pCloud. Bonus points for encrypting those backups with Cryptomator.

I’ve now seen aliasvault so many times I’m starting to be suspicious of it. Thankfully its only been in this community so I can acknowledge that I’m the problem and not them, but it just reminds me of Omarchy a few months back having never heard of it and suddenly every tech YouTuber is mentioning it. Again, I’m the problem, aliasvault seems promising.
