Have you tried a structured course for learning? I remember CodeAcademy being free ages ago, or say Odin Project for web development specifically
Some universities also release their courses online for free, on edx for example.
I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

The article feels like an LLM helped write it, but it’s comprehensive nonetheless. I recently switched to bare llama.cpp since I have limited hardware capabilities and this squeezes a tiny bit more out of it. However, my usage is limited to learning / testing

I think you forgot to link the article. This one has the same title, but a different image on it

I thought this post was going to be about the “missionaries in your area”, as a reference to the “hot singles in your area” ads

It seems to differ on desktop vs mobile
Even then, it’s only useful when you are using a program that doesn’t need the keyboard, and only if you don’t need to use any other programs at the time.
For example, if you are in class and you want to take notes, a separate tablet works a lot better than folding the laptop.

That’s where my mind went, I was surprised with how “normal” it felt

I think the problem with a ban is that the creators of AI slop will stop disclosing or tagging it.
Allowing it with tags + letting users filter it out might be the best way to reduce it?
IMO the title cards would have worked better. This makes it seem like you’re supposed to hear the sound that the vehicles made
Also, was Air Wolf that popular? I would have swapped it with MacGyver, and I’m judging that based on how often other pop culture seems to reference the shows above (ex. Community, etc).
MacGyver is popular enough that some people use it to describe when something is juryrigged/improvised. They might even understand it better than those alternate definitions
If I can offer some context, since I think we’ve been getting the same DMs and registration applications that this community is getting.
For the past few weeks, we’ve received a number of messages and registration applications from LLM run accounts that include text such as “I represent {{some business}}”, “I want to participate in {{communities related to said business}}”, “This account is run by an {{LLM/Agent/etc.}}”.
It also includes lines like “I will mark myself as a bot as per rule #_”, “I won’t post until I get permission”, “you can always tell me no”, etc.
They’re long and they’re getting tedious to deal with. I’ve been rejecting them on the grounds that there is no human operator to speak to, and most of these communities do not want LLM created content / shills from a business.
I also considered making an explicit rule with the hopes that the automated system will read it and leave us alone

I think better compatibility with the Mastodon side would go a long way towards fixing the userbase / content problem.
There are 672k monthly active users on Mastodon who can’t easily interact with threadiverse. Although this is mostly a change that they need to implement
Going through and downvoting unrelated content on a user’s profile is seen as harassment and vote manipulation. Doing that repeatedly will result bans

That’s great to hear! Sorry if the post caused any potential stress, I’ve edited the end of the post and I’m open to editing it further to not give anyone the wrong impression.
Looking forward to seeing this in action :)
The spammer was this user, it looked like one of those impersonation accounts that pop up on Mastodon instances from time to time. You might have already banned the user by the time we got to it: @elonspacex49.bsky.social@coves.social
The seller isn’t necessarily being weird, “sofa-cum-bed”/“sofa-come-bed”/“sofa-co-bed” is actually how people refer to it in some places.

I think it comes from the Latin for “with”. The same thing happens with some historical academic distinctions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_honors
summa cum laude (/ˈsuːmə/), meaning “with highest praise”, typically awarded to graduates in the top 1%, 2%, or 5% of their class, depending on the institution. Some institutions either do not award the summa cum laude distinction or award it only in extraordinary circumstances

Open to hearing your thoughts, but I think what you might be seeing is a combination of
I agree that we should improve things through modern medicine, just sharing what I remember/ found about the evolution side:
It’s been a while, but from what I remember, menstruation evolved in humans (and closely related species) as a defense mechanism for mothers. Other species reabsorb the lining instead of ejecting it, mainly because it’s thin enough to do so.
For one, a thicker lining protects the mother from the baby/placenta, which is trying to embed itself further to better pull resources from the mother’s body.
We also have a much higher chance of miscarriages and improper development of the fetus, and so having a thicker lining and a method for “ejecting” allows for the mother’s body to remove a fetus that won’t make it, instead of burning more resources growing it or risking harm from miscarriages.
When I think of bad evolution, I think of stuff like choking, which only happens because of the order that the two pipes evolved. I don’t think there’s an evolutionarily helpful reason for why we can choke
This applies to everyone by the way, including people who live elsewhere /s
In all seriousness, hope it goes well :)

I’ve tried both [Lemmy and PieFed], and the UX is […]
That’s excluding the horrible lack of contrast most frontends use, which makes […]
IMO both of the UIs are going to feel weird and limited to someone coming from Reddit / Instagram etc. I find that custom front ends like Photon are a lot better for newcomers.
I know Lemmy is working on a completely new frontend.
Fediverse feels slower, but not in a good way. More of a ‘if I don’t use this for a week, I’ll see new things’. If I log in after 2 or 3 days, I’ll scroll for 10 minutes and see the stuff I saw last time.
I have a constant flow of new content, and see something new every time I open it (which is often, after years of having that muscle memory from reddit).
I’m subscribed to a lot of communities + using scaled sort
I also want nsfw stuff now and then. I hate how censored the internet has become, at least with reddit if I want to see a bit of porn, I can.
This one was weird to me. I remember seeing complaints that reddit has been banning and shutting down its NSFW side, while it’s accessible here.
I tried twice to join those forums within the Fediverse and I can’t get past the captcha test. The fact that you need approval to validate your access doesn’t seem designed to encourage you to recommend it.
I want Lemmy to support HCaptcha
Past that, most people are ok with applications once you explain why they’re necessary.
Also a lot of social media platforms started out as invite only as marketing strategy lol
