Yeah it’s still about half & half, (not the government, we are one of the most heavily gerrymandered states so the state legislature does not represent us) and we aren’t the only place the establishment Democrats run Republican-Lite.

But I agree, they ignored Angie Nixon because she was too authentically progressive for them. But nearly everyone I know, she was the person they were most excited to vote for. And she did win the primary.

OP, one time I was at the Walgreens and they were playing that song so loud, it’s so good. I live inside the city so they had this urban-mix Muzak that was great.

And this sounds like a pretty good life, time for reading and working out, enough free time to have a relationship. Most doctors don’t have such a cushy schedule.

I agree that nobody should be eating anything they would not prepare - I don’t hunt because I don’t like camping and am a terrible shot, would be a menace with a gun. But I have gently raised chickens, and am at ease with eating meat, and DO want to know what I am eating. So hunted fowl and grass fed ranch animals are great, , I try to eat less meat humanely raised. We are animals and omnivores and we belong to this cycle of life.

People who want meat as a sanitized experience, who don’t want to think about what they are eating, that does bother me. Vegans don’t bother me, that makes sense. Hunters (for food) don’t bother me. Fishing kinda does, because the oceans are so overfished, we need to lay off awhile.

Anyway - I do think it’s ethical, a deer is going to be somebody’s food and a quick death is gentler than what a different predator would do.

That is funny to me; I love seeing beautiful people but they don’t stun me like that, I can’t really be attracted to someone I’ve not met. And I couldn’t define a “most beautiful” because there are just so many different ways to be beautiful.

Nile crocodiles eat about once a week on average and can eat twice a year and survive. I wouldn’t count on a t-rex expiring from hunger in a month. Maybe from all the new germs, if it was time-traveled in, but not starvation.

This is so normal. I always sort of thought it was nature trying to replace the person who died. It does feel weird but is very common.

It’s ok not great I guess? There is a growing disconnect between prices of goods, and wages. Rents and house prices being the biggest example but also electricity, food, gas (I don’t drive much but the gas price shows up in other things like food)

We had a party but oof this year it was lame - my grown kids asked me to have one (our house is a great house for a Halloween party) and then took off to other parties instead of bringing their parties here, and none of the grownups I invited came because it rained hard, and we got almost no trick or treaters either, because of the rain.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I am happy enough just decorating and giving out candy, I do dress up. This year just sort of a Ghostess, dead makeup, long gray dress, inverted pentagram necklace. Simple and effective, I didn’t look usual.

The two kids who did stay had scary costumes - one was a data center and one was a Waymo.

Our usage is higher than that, not 80 but higher than 30 always. and yes I think it’s high. I cook at home, a lot. AC runs a lot, 2 heat pump units. One person working from home. High ceilings. Everything is electric. Our bill is lower in the winter than the summer but our winters are mild.

Not sure I enjoyed my 20s, had more of an “it gets better” arc but I would say value your friends. It gets harder and harder to meet up and to make new friends, do the most you can to stay close to the ones you have now & your life will be better for it.

If it meant I could download language packs, likely yes. Otherwise probably not. And not in the current setup where some company could likely turn off your brain if you missed a payment.

BMI is bullshit but mostly in the other direction - people who are overfat without being overweight by BMI. It’s much less common to be overweight without being overfat.

What is also true, though, is that the risk curve for underweight is sharp but for overweight is pretty flat - a few pounds over just doesn’t add much risk, while a few pounds under does add some risk.
