3·1 day agoin fairness, at trump we already know all the options are ridiculous. I mean after the entire whitehouse pubic staff co-ordinated to answer all questions from reporters with “your mom”, when the whole administrations strategy for appearing before congress is burn books of personal attacks to deflect questions.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Thinking of opensourcing my daily-driver fediverse app. What are your thoughts on running it through an AI security tool before doing so?English
1·4 days agoHonestly not everyone will agree, but personally I can’t see any flaw in using AI to read through your code and point out security flaws. It’s going to happen regardless of whether you initiate it. It’s not like us sys admins are going “well I’m not going to patch the dirtyfrag vulnerability because it was discovered with AI”. I’d say knowing if AI can find a vulnerability in your code, is just a requirement right now.
Me when asked whether I’d date a religious person.
To me, at least with Judeo-Christian religions that believe in hell as the destination for people who do not believe in their god, I find it so baffling that people can have mixed or non religious serious relationships, with the idea “well we just don’t try to convert eachother”.
How the hell do you square.
I love my spouse.
I love my God.
One day my god is going to send my spouse to be tortured for all of eternity. I will then spend the rest of my life happily hanging out with my god.
It only makes sense if you either don’t really believe what you believe, or you are very certain your partner is going to change their view. From the atheist side it doesn’t really matter.

Technology@lemmy.world•Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you already bought: Time-based a la carte charges come on top of the purchase price for the games themselves.English
1·5 days agoI’ve called this so many times over… It’s not just going to be xbox… it’s going to be PCs in general, With AI data centers raising up the price on all hardware, They are already making moves in the government on banning routers. The plan is going to be for personal computers and hardware to leave the world. Either price them out of consumer reach or flat out outlaw them. We get thin clients like stadia, Luna etc… Actually having a personal computer capable of running software itself will be considered a national security threat. Why wouldn’t you keep your stuff in the cloud where the government can audit it, companies can make sure you aren’t pirating or running unapproved illegal LLMs that could make bombs etc…

To me it’s going to wreck the economy one way or the other.
either it matches it’s hype and it recoups it’s trillions of dollars invested via taking half or more of the countries jobs for only half our sallaries. Or it’s going to implode and all of us are going to end up desperate for work when the financial crash wrecks everything 10x harsher than we’ve ever imagined.
To me the AI fear wouldn’t be as bad, if we were further dipping our toes in. UBI or an economic system where we didn’t have to work to live. Of course in america we’re seeing the opposite as they are adding work requirements to food stamps, medicaid etc…
