That sounds like a lot of discomfort has been relieved! I myself have had issues with a coworker for years and have multiple times resolved to confront them. Between my own awkwardness and a culture in the company of positivity, it’s easier said than done. I actually tried telling them a couple of times about specific incidents being bad for me a very non blamey way. The response was dismissive at each time. Recently they announced they are leaving and I’m relieved. Going to their going away party is going to be weird for me too. I know some people have had issues with this same person but everyone is being very nice to them about leaving. I guess it’s pretty common as you said to put up with things to get along. I have felt almost abused by the person in my case but they will never know/care. I almost feel sorry for their future coworkers. This person straight up is incapable of listening and is a control freak. Not fun to deal with at all when they decide to take control of a situation.
