I’m fien with Murena Workspace (France) and Filen (Germany) for Cloud, both OpenSource. I don’t use VPN, only Cyberghost Proxy extension to skip country restrictions, maybe the SPN (multichannel VPN) of the Portmaster app, if needed one day

Technology@lemmy.ml•iPhone Duo Users Are Already Seeing a Big Old Crease in the Middle of Their $2,000 Foldable iPhone
3·6 days agoHuaway and Samsung use foldable phones and tablets since long time before Apple with the corresponing experience with it. Also possible as reason why they survive 500.000 foldings and Apple only 60.000-70.000

27·7 days agoOh yeah, camara surveillance from Amazon in my home, sound nice.

Yes, Spectacle is a screenshot tool, but also not more than this, equivalent of the by default inbuild one in Windows (Snipping Tool, screenshot/cast, annotation…), which do more or less the same. better other tools like Flameshot (Windows, Linux, Mac), etc.but not a real alternative to ShareX.
You need several different apps to do the same as Irfanview. Yes, there are several image viewer for Linux, also multimedia viewer, image editors, batch converters, etc., but not all in one like Irfanview. Same for ShareX, there is no other with editor, screenshot, screencast, OCR, of any type of files, uploader customizable and more. The nearest alternative is Greenshot, but also not for Linux, only for Windows and Mac. It is a fact, most soft for Linux exist also for Windows, not the other way arround.
I use eg ShareX and Irfanview, only two examples of a lot of apps for Windows only, superior to anything from Linux alternatives, for Gamers (despite there are changings in last years) there are also only an limited catalogue for Linux in comparision (even worse in Mac), same also in the case of official and professional apps. Windows has the biggest catalogue of software of all other OS (even FOSS), don’t confuse it. The strong and advantage of Linux is other, but not respect the list of high quality soft. This in the future may change, but currently Windows is the, by far most used OS and because of this, also the most devs of soft for it. So an good working Windows emulator for Linux isn’t a bad idea and for sure usefull for a lot of users.

63·8 days agoAs always, in Apple you pay (expensive) Apple productsfor design and brand, not for quality or performance. Foldable phones in Samsung and others not a problem. with it you have a smartphone convertible to an Tablet, usefull for some tasks, but not with bad quality following an hype. Apple products are made for Apple and acttionists, not for the user.
That is the point, votes are anyway misleading

Put you an like or an dislike?
Yes, a lot of haters in Lemmy, but at least for me it’s irrelevant if someone has an orgasm downvoting by default
Yes, until these are ignored or the police begin the attacs to peacefull protesters. This is why protests begin peacefull but often don’t end this way when the police hit always the wrong people or police disguised as protesters begin with violent acts to justify the atacs.

1·10 days agoNothing new that Google read the Gmail content for personalized ads. Alphabet is an advertising company and surveillance advertising always was and is its business model.
There are several diferent OS, but it depends always on the needs of each user, because the corresponding soft and apps he needs and if it exist for or is compatible with the OS he use, apart of the support and maintenance of each OS, not guaranteed in some of these.

The inbuild adblocker of the Vivaldi browser also do it, skipping the cookie advices with the selected (deselected) cookies (I don’t care about Cookies and Easy list Cookie list filters), also by the settings in web page permissions.
Apart also by the filters of the Portmaster app which avoid that there enter any unwanted crap in the system.
