Don’t forget about all of the F-16s they have.
It’s always the same thing on both sides. Republicans didn’t want to start a new party when the tea party people popped up as it would split the R vote. Democrats don’t want to create a new party as it will split the D vote. The only way to get an additional viable party would be for both D and R to split and add two new parties simultaneously. So, as someone who will never vote R, I sure hope all of those “sane republicans” I keep hearing about start their own new party.

There are so many abliterated models available right now that it’s tough to see what the strategy could look like for Anthropic. When I have a project that I even suspect could get a rejection, I just run it locally now. Even if Claude says it won’t reject it, I don’t chance it. I may pass of some parts to Opus but the majority of it is local with local agents. What does that do for Anthropic? Well, what I would have needed a $200 subscription to run, I can accomplish with the $20 subscription. Not sure how they plan to make enough money to cover expenses with those usage patterns.

I mean, I get it. If I was ONLY using that 32GB for local AI models then we could take about efficiency and centralization but that’s not the case for most people. When I run local models, I am not running my music DAW with tons of plugins, I’m also not gaming or doing video editing. When I shutdown the local model, I’m usually starting up a game or a recording session. I could just be in the middle of a workday with a lot of teams, Firefox, and vs code running. It could be a video editing day. His concept could be accurate if that memory was used for one thing only on my machine but that’s not the case.

I always felt like there was a gap in this portion with regards to my understanding. The galactic republic is billions of citizens and thousands of worlds but no one can form an army to defend it without the clones? I mean, Naboo had Star fighters, other worlds have defense forces, but no one can raise an army without the clones? It seems like the republic citizens were ambivalent to the defense of the republic and just shirked responsibility to the senate who only had the Jedi to lean on. It was “someone else’s problem”. So maybe the Jedi could have said “fix yo own shit” but it would have shown the shakiness of the republic and without the republic, the Jedi were just a small magical sect of individuals who did not have the numbers to be statistically relevant in the galaxy.

The big driver was necessity though. They were just on the cusp of war with the trade federation so it was either use the clone army or the republic straight up loses the war. The Jedi alone couldn’t take on the trade federation. Even if they were suspicious, there were very few options on the table.
I only drink to celebrate or if I’m at a work event so we shall see if I’m drinking tonight (I don’t have a work event tonight so my only hope is a blue tsunami). Sure hope I get sloppy drunk.
