On a somewhat related note, the private sector routinely does central planning in areas dominated by few large players. E.g. Walmart. They use a version of the mathematical models the Soviets came up with to do central planning at Gosplan.

Shares of Google parent company Alphabet sank Thursday by 12.6%
Okay, unlike most drummed up bullshit articles that make big noise over minor fluctuations, this ain’t nothing.
Anyone know what happened?

Oh so you’re saying the purpose of the multi-party state is to be able to keep evading taxes and accumulating wealth unimpeded. Got it.

That still means the same thing though. If they’re planning to take billions of debt, they and their lender think they’re either making good money today or they’d be making it in the future. Or in other words they can either pay their workers more today or in the future. 😁

What does calibration refer to in this context?

OK that latter use case makes some sense to me.

That’s what I’m saying.

Alright, so here’s my Q, there’s a multiple choice question about whether something should be included in the scope of a code change. An LLM is planning the change and it asks that question. A decision model could look at that and decide A or B. Wouldn’t this model need to have wider understanding of the codebase and LLM decisions so far in order to do a good decision? Wouldn’t the LLM be in a better position to do this decision? The LLM wasn’t sure, why does the decision model’s answer be better?
Or am I misunderstanding the purpose of these?

Make no mistake, this won’t stop after Trump. Even if ICE is abolished, the oligarch class will vote with their dollars to have this surveillance continue, as it’s fundamental to their survival.

I still don’t understand their purpose. 😄
They’re also oretty great for stuff that’s simple to write like self-hosting infrastructure/config code like Ansible, SaltStack. I wouldn’t use what comes out without understanding it though.

Another article for the archive of washing decades of US economic warfare. The Atlantic is doing its part.

Is this real? OMG some fucking good news…

The cat is out of the bag and one of the ways to fight for our rights is by owning as much of the tech as possible. Deprive the big AI firms from the revenue they expect for the services they sell. Make them mid-enough-to-fail. If we let them make the money they expect to make we can’t regulate them out of our lives without a major socioeconomic collapse like the great depression.

Too big for us regular peasants but nice to see.

Sovereign tech is when the US asks nicely for a server seizure in your country and you hand it over.
This is probably the smaller peanuts tho. Italy debankig A/I on behalf of the US is the serious shit. They could have moved their tech operations from Amsterdam if they still had access to their money. That’s the much more serious sovereignty gap.

Fact, but since that’s common and cheap, and I’m not aware of an equivalent FOSS alternative, I’d go with Meshtastic, if were to dabble. And I dabble. :D

BTW, Meshcore is MIT and not fully FOSS, while Meshtastic is GPL and fully FOSS.
How’re you solving the web page fetch blocking problem? Lots of pages return nothing to my Playwright instance. When the pages load, the result is fabulous.
