  • Removing the president isn’t the point, and it’s something the GOP needs to do sooner or later (and today’s results suggest sooner). Still, any opportunity to haul Trump over the coals should be taken IMO. Accountability is as much about the process as the result, and it’s not just Trump who needs to be held accountable, but everyone he has appointed and everyone who is backing him. Trump himself is a good place to start, even recognizing that Trump is the symptom, not the disease.

  • It’s nice to have some reward for looking in the nooks and crannies, without feeling like you have to search in every nook and cranny. What is the best way to achieve this? One way could be if you had interesting items each of which could be found in several places, and when you’ve found it in one place you won’t find it in another.

Not sure if you’re replying to someone else or just didn’t understand what I wrote.

Edit to respond to your edit: I would guess that your assumed context is black people in the USA, since that’s where the term “African American” is used most commonly. To describe a black person as “African American” assumes two things, neither of which is necessarily true. You wouldn’t describe a white person as “White American” if you didn’t know they were American. Being in the USA doesn’t imply you are American. People travel sometimes, and to assume otherwise when a person is black is of course racist.

The absurdity is more obvious when people use the term in a broader context. I tried to find a video I saw a while ago but alas it seems to have been scrubbed from the internet, of an athlete, Kriss Akabusi perhaps, being interviewed after a race and the interviewer was asking him about being an African American athlete. Akabusi pointed out that he was black and british, but the interviewer kept trying to correct him, referring to him as “British African American” at one point. Sorry I can’t find it, it was really quite funny.

  • Your comment: “I think it’s much more racist to claim someone who has nothing to do with Africa or its politics… is African American just based on skin color.”

Which is perfectly valid btw. African American is an ethnic category, not a skin color. Which is why using that category as a way to describe skin color is inherently racist. Assuming someone is American, based on skin color, is every bit as absurd as assuming they are African.

  • I used to own one of these bad boys

Ridiculously cool, you basically transform into James Bond if you’re using one of those. It was actually quite practical as well. But what I think would be a good modern take on that would be essentially a phone case that’s a keyboard, so you keep the basic smartphone design intact, with the processor battery etc behind the screen. No reason for it not to be removable either. There’s some generic large versions of that but if that was part of the phone design you could do it very compact and cute.
