He used Fernando Henrique’s manual to how to reduce inflation. But then he threw the manual away and didn’t notice that it only worked in Brazil because FHC was a socialist.

World News@lemmy.world•Left-leaning leaders in the Americas welcome Lula’s victory in BrazilEnglish
1·17 hours agoThe government made a new law making it impossible to judge politicians for corruption, and the Supreme Court decided that it applies retroactively to Lula, making it so no judgement was considered valid.

3·24 hours agoHalf of the Supreme court is involved in a corruption scandal, while he is papering over the problem; Half of the Congress is involved on that same scandal and some half in another large scandal, and he didn’t direct the police to investigate (he and the Supreme Court are the only ones that can); We have a new law mandating that common crimes from politicians can only be judge by a court that has no judge, and he was one of the main creators of it… The list goes on and on.

He is just way less worse than that other guy.

5·2 days agoI do hope Brazil blocks Meta from now on. Just like I hope we jail some bus companies executives.
At some point, it’s enough.
Lol. They are closed and down.
It took me way longer to discover what IED meant, but if you bias your search engine towards English, it says Improvised Explosive Device in no time.

You can do the other options tomorrow…

Maybe L4? IDK, but it’s something that makes this kind of choice irrelevant.

153·2 days agoBy a whooping 1.5% difference, we haven’t got a mob boss on the head of the executive power, with an aligned congress and the capacity of putting 2 judges on the supreme court and get a majority there.
So… whew… our democracy will only die slowly now. Beats dying quickly.

1·2 days agoI do really disagree here. Name lengths should be proportional to the size of their scope.
If your function has 1 line, your local variables should almost all have 1 letter.

3·2 days agoZed sucks in many of the ways that modern editors suck.
Autocompleting on characters that appear in code, and autocompleting in a way that overwrites the code you have already written are two incredibly stupid decisions that put a mark over any tool that adopts any one of them.
But then, Zed almost working, but in a way that still sucks was enough to motivate me into setting my Emacs properly, in a way that doesn’t suck. So Zed gave me a good editor.

3·2 days agoSystemd solves a very important problem that was defined extremely well.
It also solves it badly, and solved a whole lot of other badly defined problems that it shouldn’t.

You execute the people doing Nazi stuff, and forcibly implant a democratic government with a social safety program that pays reparation to the victims of the genocide in way that integrates them.
You don’t over-Nazi the Nazis and go exterminating a population.

horseswas last released in 2024, and can only run on python up to 3.12.horsesdepends oniron-making, that is up to date. That means the current version ofiron-makingdepends on python >= 3.14, and that all the versions prior to 2025 were taken offline due to a CVE where if you run the library as root in a web backend that uses themake_nailfunction, people can open your barn doors without authorization when inside it.
Well, people used to be able to do that. Nowadays, IDK…
