  • It’s easier to use their names

    Deci = 1/10th
    Centi = 100th
    Milli = 1000th
    Micro = 1,000,000th
    Nano = 1,000,000,000th

    Deca = ×10
    Hector = ×100
    Kilo = ×1,000
    Mega - ×1,000,000
    Giga = × 1,000,000,000
    Tera = × 1,000,000,000,000,000

    Etc prefixing the thing being measured.

    So you know what a centimetre, gigabyte, megaton, kiljoule, etc. are.

    Other easy conversions too, like 1kg = 1L of water.

    And it’s metre. Because a meter is a measuring device and all this shit is Latin (metrum) like proper science stuff be. Americans don’t even use it, so they can fuck off with their misspelling.

    And that’s it. You now know the metric system. You probably now realise you’ve been using it all along for many things.

  • I’m no longer a Christian, and I don’t think any of it is fact. But I was one for 22 years and went to Bible college before seeing the light and studying anthropology. What a text says and whether it’s true are two different things, and you’re making a claim about what’s in that text that just isn’t true. You’re right that the overarching theme was defiance, but not anything else.

    Your “refusal to bow to mankind” is only found in later non-canonical texts after the Bible. It’s why it is canon in one Abrahamic text…the Qur’an. Not the NKJV, and obv not any translation of the Christian Bible. I.e. not in the teachings or literature of Christianity, nor your NKJV.

    The story never mentions humanity, not even where the NT brings it up. The Torah covers creation and the Fall, so the Bible gets all that from there and so there’s no Lucifer story in it. The Torah doesn’t say the serpent was Satan at all, so neither does Genesis. In the Bible, only until Isaiah is the Lucifer story established, which doesn’t mention what you said at all and that’s the core for that tale in that literature. The only place Satan actually gets pinned to the serpent in Genesis is Revelation, and even there, nothing about refusing to bow to humans.

    You may have been preached some individual’s interpretation of the Bible, including their reading of texts written after the Bible (like, 100-700years after), but if you read it, you’d read what I’m saying and not find mention of what you’re saying.

    Your narrative doesn’t exist in any Bible. This isn’t a difference of opinion, denominations, versions, whatever. This is something you can Google right now if you can’t be bothered reading your NKJV.

  • “It’s a simple question for any enterprise. Would you like something that’s 10 percent of the cost if it’s 90 percent as good as the best, or do you want to pay that 10 times higher cost?”

    That really depends…

    90% is disasterous. It may sound good because it’s “just” 10% off 100%, but it’s awful. Two iterations reduces that to ~0.01%< but that’s still pretty bad. Obviously the more complex, the higher the risk and the more demand and time per iteration. The machine also has no concept of criticality, so how much is being saved with three or even four iterations to assure failure is basically zero?

    “Then the question is: how many tasks require that? I would tell you some do, but the vast majority, summarizing an email, examining a contract, answering a customer call, composing an email, all of those can be done as well with the much cheaper answer.”

    Imagine 10,000 emails an hour through your enterprise and 1,000 times It fucks up. Anything from missing info to misinterpreting to just straight up modifying/deleting. No concept of criticality per email. 8,000 in a 9–5 office. 24,000 a day for a global enterprise. That’s what 90% looks like.

    Then you got “examining contracts” and all the other stuff he mentioned…
