Attacker hacks into a system, sees that it’s running a GPL libc rather than a MIT libc and then politely excuses themselves because they aren’t willing to share their spoils.
Bad code is bad code, no matter what license it’s written in.

For anyone nostalgic for game manuals like myself, I’d recommend the game Tunic which has a beautiful manual as a core mechanic.

Isn’t there a vector through using x11 to read/write keystrokes? An app that is abandoned is likely using x11.
Of course this is entirely hypothetical and requires multiple steps to exploit so, unless you’re doing something extremely sketchy, you shouldn’t worry about it.

This is a very unsatisfying “it depends” situation. Is there any app in particular you’re looking at?

Note that at no point does he claim this “proof” is falsified.

I don’t know if this is the first game I ever bought, but according to the link in the OP it was Portal. Which feels almost poetic in a way. Apparently I would have been 18 then.

My feeling is that Linus is still going to call out slop if he sees it - human or otherwise.

I hate that I can’t tell if this is a reference to something that actually happened or not.
To be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the “discord killers” lacked functioning e2e encryption…
