Every time I see a can.

Every time I see a can.

Start it with a handle of a spoon and then continue using the handle to open it all the way. Finger safety!

Waking up extremely eary, something like 4 a.m.
Either that is your regular sleep cycle or you trained yourself to fight your regular sleep schedule. That isn’t impressive any more than staying up until 4 a.m. is impressive.
It was also the case when it was one on one with of her teachers/coaches. I’m sure someone will jump in with “it was something you did” but seriously I have no issues with teaching other kids, she just didn’t want to learn from me or her mom.
Maybe she resented us for making her clean up her room and do other chores or something.

Why add something that provides no benefit but requires workarounds if people misuse it?

Cool, cool.
Enough people do care and attribute value that it leads to negative outcomes. On reddit having higher karma numbers was treated as a user being ‘worth more’ for decisions. After a decade or so not having karma on a new account led to negative experience for new users by being gated out of popular communities until they farmed some karma.

I think you mean hidden or secretive algorithms with malicious agendas and dark patterns like how the corporate social media systems work. Yes, those would suck.
I like the current list of algorithm options that work as described.
I taught some cousin’s kids how to swim. I tried to teach my daughter to swim but she refused to listen. Enrolled her in swimming classes where the teacher said and did the exact same things and she went on about how they showed her the exact same things and it worked. Literally the same things with the same amount of patience. Repeat this pattern for her first 17 years of life on various stuff, it just had to come from someone else.
She finally started listening to me this year about stuff! Yay! I didn’t change anything, she just finally decided that maybe I do know what I’m talking about.

Make sure to have weather appropriate clothing and get outside even when it is cold. Anything short of sleet/ice/blizzard is perfectly fine for the average mobile person getting out for at least a short walk outside as long as they are dressed appropriately and there aren’t massive drifts.
If mobility is an issue then getting out when it is cold, but not dangerously slick, is still a good idea.
One thing most people don’t know is that cold weather gear needs to match the weather and the level of effort being made. Walking in wind requires a lot more insulation and wind protection than shoveling snow without wind because effort heats up and sweating is dangerous when it is cold. Keeping dry is critical, both from external moisture and from sweat!
It isn’t though, which is why conservation groups that hunt are a net positive in practice. The members also tend to discourage poaching, push harder for maintaining ecosystems, and other stuff beyond what funding can do on its own because the individuals who tend to be involved have ofher forms of influence and power.
It sucks that this is how the world works, but in this specific case it works.

The cat would be less annoying if the image wasn’t so fucking huge.
He looks like he is taking a standing shit.
Somebody bullshitting in c/lemmyshitpost?

There are better AI options that could be developed for that over a massive all in one inefficient LLM like Copilot. If the same amount of money was thrown at dedicated development AI and searches it would require far less energy, pollution, hardware, and could be run locally in many cases with the same or better results.

I was replying to a post about LLMs and the article is about LLMs so while it is true that AI predates LLMs and the label isn’t literally limited to only LLMs and genAI those two things have taken over the label and are what nearly everyone means when they say AI.
They aren’t talking about the AI used to find exoplanets, or the AI used with lidar to find structures in jungles, or to do actual medical science, or all of the other types that are useful tools. The article is about LLMs implemented by the big companies that are designed to steal and manipulate data in ways that are detrimental to society.

That is all they are good for. They are ok for translation, although even then they miss a lot of nuance like someone who can speak a language but isn’t fluent.
Well, there are a lot of malicious uses, but passable translation is the one positive use case.

Keep her in the basement so I don’t have to.
Or just realize that looks aren’t everything and there is a decent chance she could be a shitty person and obsessing over looks isn’t healthy. Talk to people.
