I’ve been programming for about 20 years but initially I wasn’t able to get into compiled languages like C, C++, etc. I learned Ruby on Rails pretty easily (still my main language) then moved on to the “uglier” more complicated ones.

I’m self-taught so maybe the high level languages were simply easier to get started with since it didn’t require inventing every little thing. I still shudder at a lot of that original code I wrote though now.

I’ve been a Ruby on Rails developer for like 15 years but never knew this until recently (with Omarchy coming out). It’s frankly embarrassing to be associated with DHH however remotely at this point.

I got so tired of the quarters problem (bank online so I get ATM fees then have to go to a laundromat to pretend I’m doing laundry there) that I bought a whole-ass washing machine for $180 to avoid the problem.

I’m actually saving a ton of money and because my landlord is checked out and lives far from here he’ll never know we have a portable washer in our apartment.

I haven’t used YouTube in like 5+ years (all of Google is blocked on my devices) but recently I’ve had more free time than usual and started watching some videos on an unblocked Apple TV. All the thumbnails are this kind of disgusting, absolute slop and/or they all have people with really creepy faces. I eventually just stopped watching shit there.
