House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., speaks during an event with House Democrats on the Capitol steps in September. (Tom Williams/CQ Roll Call)
“Well the president said he’d veto anything this congress passes, so clearly we have to court him by working across the aisle and capitulating on anything slightly left of the rotting corpse of Rush Limbaugh.”
—Jefferies (a few months from now, probably)
I really hope that in the next few weeks, someone talks some fucking sense into this guy
I wish someone competent would go for the Speaker’s spot. Jeffries is… genuinely uninspiring. Too centrist; too corporatist; too moderate.
There’s been work behind the scenes for years to get him the job, he was identified right away as the person they wanted after Pelosi.
And therein lies the problem
That’s a nice way of saying I wish he’d fall down a flight of stairs and retire.
He’s not old, he’s just not the person I think should be leading the not-fascist party at this point, because he’s far too tied to the political establishment
I don’t care what he does after he retires from congress, he can open a cupcake shop or open a roller skating ring. I just don’t think he should be in congress
