First mullvad and now proton. Sheeeesh.
So now this is an alternative email thread, right?
Astermail? Fastmail?
Are both also shoving ai down their employees throats and/or guving money to fascists?
Is my only hope hosting and maintaining my own email service?
We’ve known about Proton for way longer then Mullvad. CEO has had TDS for a while now; the AI pivot is like the last 5 degrees of the heelturn. Same with Omarchy and Brave.
Proton has been sketchy for years. Like every 6 months the get dragged for unethical shit but somehow everyone is surprised each time
Fastmail seems fairly sensible about AI:

Their email service itself is excellent, and I appreciate that they recently introduced the option to move your account’s data storage out of the USA into the EU. But they’re not an encrypted service like Proton or Tuta.

libertaanarchisolationist who donate to a right-wing anti-immigrant political party, pretty much single-handedly keeping it going, iirc. The company distanced themselves but did not apologize or say ‘fuck one of our owners’ so people are not sure what to make of it.Don’t know what it has to do with AI though.

Posteo is a decent one that friends of mine use
i use posteo but wanted to switch to something else with more aliases but. it works there is no kontroversie… so 1€ per month is good.
Oh boy do I know a “tool” that can help you with that. It’ll guide you through the process of getting started. Or if you want, you can have it’s agents do it for you. /s
