I think you underestimate how gatcha’d we already are.
Since Gacha stems from Gashapon vending machines (source - Wiki Gacha, I feel like medium purists should stick to vending machines only.

I was going to say roguelikes aren’t a gacha because you usually don’t gamble with real money in them, but buying rougelikes can be a gatcha if you don’t know if you’ll buy a good game.
Purchasing anything in an unregulated market is a gacha.
Maybe I’m a goal anarchist, but I’d argue it’s still a gacha even if you gamble with fake money earned within the game.
We need a third dimension: Resource being used Resource Purist - the resource gambled must be a real world currency or proxy for it Resource Neutral - there has to be a resource being gambled Resource Anarchist - there doesn’t have to be a resource at all

Every pull should cost money, which disqualifies most roguelikes. Pregnancy is still a gatcha though, especially if you’re recycling for free pulls.
Electricity costs money, thus, keyboard strokes and mouse clicks technically do have a monetary cost
Time is money, but the grinding does not make the gatcha, the pulling does.
Thought requires calories. Food costs money.

I found that I naturally developed a sense for a specific type of gacha. I was watching a preview for this new game that I’m forgetting the name of, something about oddities, and I noticed the combat flow which threw up a small flag, then I saw the parry tell animation, then I saw the three characters, swap between, and ultimate animations. Altogether it immediately registered as gacha, went to steam and saw “free to play.”
…damnit, now I have another gacha to play lol
