Now we understand why Trump didn’t want [the Epstein files] released.

Just a week before the midterm elections, which are already shaping up to be a bloodbath for the GOP, Democrats have dropped a bombshell. “A growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s,” states a just-released report from the Democrats of the House Judiciary Committee.

Additionally, they claim that Trump has leveraged his FBI and DOJ to cover up the evidence, and have now called for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate any potential wrongdoing.

So many of you in the comments are subject to exactly what the article describes:

“Part of the problem with the stories of Epstein, Trump, and the corruption all come down to the same thing: The bit-by-bit release of information has created a long record of abhorrent behavior, which means that the bar to shock is so high it’s almost impossible to clear. There is a kind of disgust fatigue at play: Yeah, we know Epstein was a disgusting sex predator, and that some of the men around him probably partook too; what’s new? Those who are ideologically motivated to believe Trump at all costs are also probably motivated to believe him on Epstein too; very little seems like it would change the minds of hardcore MAGA adherents.”

They said they worked to “flood the zone with shit” and you are all spewing it today. Calm down with the surprise memes. Sit in the hard feelings, shut up or do something about it

      or do something about it

What can I dom? It’s kind of a trope with millennials at this point that memes are the form of “action” that represents our overall powerlessness to hold such people accountable, despite it being a scandal that redefines the meaning of “watershed moment”.

If diddling kids for decades isn’t enough to enrage a country into burning it down, what is?

Right? The leader of a country is known for hurting children. Everyone just says, “Yeah I don’t like it, but there’s nothing I can do about it.” because the idea of organizing is so foreign to them that it’s not even considered. That’s an oppressive society.

Please show me a nationwide protest movement that has caused any measurable change in the last 40 years. The anti abortion movement maybe, although that had more power as a political wedge issue.

Iraq war protests, the largest protests in Western history, did nada.

Anti police violence protests? Cops are still killing people.

          No Kings? Lol

So what can an average citizen do? Boycott Trump golf and buildings? Take Trump to court?? He’s been sued more than anyone alive.

Im tired of being gaslight. Out system is so corrupt, and our Justice system is just a way to control the populace.

Thank you for providing my point. It’s not gaslighting to say Americans are a repressed population. Saying protests don’t do anything is just dumb. I can list many that have, the Argentinian farmers protest, the Indian Cockroach protests too. Hell, students in France are protesting Trump more effectively. Those happened in the last few months. Americans are filled with so much hopelessness for their futures they’ve learned to be helpless. It’s not that you can’t, it’s that you won’t.

Yep. I agree. My answer is still the valid option. They’ll say I’m wrong or from Russia or China or god knows where but man I’m telling you that we gotta split this place up like the EU or something.

Been saying this for so long. The US is my country too. It’s better at propaganda than North Korea or any dictatorship. They’re all through force. We don’t need to force our population to believe in oppression. We put oppression on the menu and allow average citizens to experience applying it to others in bits and pieces from time to time.

You have to break the country to shut down the propaganda machine. It truly does need to be split into several pieces. The corporate media propaganda machine, the monopolies, the political parties who grip onto power…it’d all go away and we’d have a chance to fight for something new.

Oh gosh, we need to do the exact thing that the people running the country into the ground want to do?

trump was pushed by the tech oligarchs specifically to fuck the country up so much it would have to be parted out. The thing that has happened to every company he has ever run.

The US is so good at propaganda that you are even repeating its propaganda in a comment that is calling out their propaganda.

        What can I do?

Talk to people. Talk to everyone around you. Make sure they know this, and make sure they understand this. Make sure they are going to vote, and see if there’s some help you can offer if there’s something physically stopping them.

All that does involve effort that some may find exhausting, but you did ask what you could do. Especially if you’re in a red area, it may feel difficult, but it’s what’s needed for now.

That’s enough in the short term, in the medium and long term a lot more work will be needed to promote better people through the current system, and even push them to changing to a better system. That can only happen if the short term is taken care of though.

Not really, it’s been done. But I’m in one of the bluest areas and it was like speaking to the choir. We had our ICE invasion: not Minneapolis bad but we know how violating it feels. Virtually no one I knows likes what’s happening.

So it didn’t feel like I did that much.

If you’re sure that as many people as possible in your area are motivated, then see if others are motivating other areas and need help, ideas, or even just moral support.

No, this just isn’t new information. He literally ran an overt, above board “sexy little girl bodies” business, with other convicted pedophiles. It was even on TV.
