Its literally not about the money. They and their decendants could never spend the money on themselves.
They want to lord over everything because as far as they are concerned there is nothing is left for them to do. Such a lack of imagination.

I have friends in Texas, and the only reason I ever set foot in Texas is to see them. I can’t imagine why someone would move to Texas willingly, but hey, money friendly and all that.
