I know this is rich given that I’m on Lemmy, but there shouldn’t be a replacement for Reddit. Social media is harmful to it’s users. Corporate social media is the worst, but the alternatives, all of them, are still quite terrible for your mental health.
The only interaction I’ve ever had with mods on Lemmy has been every bit as awful as Reddit. People who want to become mods are usually not competent or well-adjusted.
It’s definitely an alternative thing to volunteer your time on. I’m not throwing shade at any decent mods, but they are far and few between and it doesn’t take much imagination to see the sort of people and the sort of personalities that are going to be attracted to such a thing. Like who the fuck normal, is going to volunteer their time, for a billion dollar corporation? No one normal is the answer, Alex.
I’m convinced there has to be a way to make moderation crowdsourced where you can build up groups of curators whose upvotes, downvotes, reports, and blocks can be used as a form of moderation.
Might be better, but holy shit do people on social media brigade, which is where I’m not sure that idea would work so well. Some topics just heat people up, and it turns into basically a runaway reaction. I’ve seen folks say like you know this sucks, but maybe we should think about x and y, and the brigade just jumps all over them like a bunch of zombies.
So what’s gonna replace Reddit? Cause it won’t be Lemmy unfortunately
Talking to people in real life
Hahahaha, no seriously.

The replacement to Reddit is touching grass.
all the grass is dead and covered in brake dust what do
Hulk green, touch Hulk.
Thank
Hulk is love.
Hulk is life.
Thank.
Thank indeed. You’re the Strongest Avenger for a good reason, Hulk!
All grass got removed and i can only observe gray land, what do i do
You must keep observing land until that too is gone
