I love the memes that pour out of [hostile community 1] and [hostile community 2], but inevitably when I participate in the comments under their posts, I’m bombarded with accusations of “trolling,” “imperialist apologia,” “racism,” etc. because I disagree with some aspects of the the hyper-auth-left.
I just want a community that makes me laugh “hehe, that’s a good point about that problem with the US” that isn’t overrun with people doing mental gymnastics to paint anything I say as the worst thing anyone’s ever said in the history of the internet and recreationally banning me for it.
Does such a place exist on the Fediverse (yet)?

When I say support it’s more in the sense of software patches and the like rather than account support, but I can’t say that’s the only reason .world stays, I’m not even part of the instance, just that it makes things less straight forward than other instances.
The fediverse at large tends to be more progressive leaning, some just take it to a place where principals that might be generally leftist are made compulsary and any deviation is an offense.
I totally get that as a philosophy, but the people (or for all I know, bots) that I’ve been running into lately aren’t that.
As an example, they’ve done mental gymnastics to build the following logic:
Russia opposes the US (factual)
The US is imperialist (factual)
Therefore anything Russia ever does cannot be imperialism, but must be anti-imperialism (???)
Therefore anyone who criticizes anything Russia ever does must be anti-anti-imperialist, ergo imperialist (???)
It’s people LARPing wanting freedom from tyranny who actually just want despotism with a different flavor on the boot.
