I love the memes that pour out of [hostile community 1] and [hostile community 2], but inevitably when I participate in the comments under their posts, I’m bombarded with accusations of “trolling,” “imperialist apologia,” “racism,” etc. because I disagree with some aspects of the the hyper-auth-left.
I just want a community that makes me laugh “hehe, that’s a good point about that problem with the US” that isn’t overrun with people doing mental gymnastics to paint anything I say as the worst thing anyone’s ever said in the history of the internet and recreationally banning me for it.
Does such a place exist on the Fediverse (yet)?
I can’t comment on that because I’ve seen communities and instances forbid “instance shaming,” but I certainly won’t strongly disagree.
Slight disagreement comes in the form of one particular community here on lemmy.world that’s geared toward this type of thing but is still run pretty despotically without any apparent corrections despite previous pleas to the admins.
How can I state this diplomatically without instance-shaming… it reminds me of lemmy.ml and I have to do double-takes when I realize it’s not.

I’ve literally never heard of your instance before.
I don’t say that to shame you, but to establish that the bigger an instance, the more likely jackasses will find their way in due to the nature of the diversity of human thought.
In other words, any instance that 100% agrees with me will be an instance of a single person - me.
Lemmy.world seems good enough for me. I don’t agree with everyone here, but most of the moderators and admins seem to not be actively abusing their power or neglectfully ignoring abuses of their peers.

I’ve also seen plenty of instance shaming. It mostly boils down to anyone on a .ml instance is a tankie and anyone on LW is a shitlib.
