I love the memes that pour out of [hostile community 1] and [hostile community 2], but inevitably when I participate in the comments under their posts, I’m bombarded with accusations of “trolling,” “imperialist apologia,” “racism,” etc. because I disagree with some aspects of the the hyper-auth-left.

I just want a community that makes me laugh “hehe, that’s a good point about that problem with the US” that isn’t overrun with people doing mental gymnastics to paint anything I say as the worst thing anyone’s ever said in the history of the internet and recreationally banning me for it.

Does such a place exist on the Fediverse (yet)?

    I’ve encountered at least one militant hyper-auth-left community here on lemmy.world, so it isn’t exclusively an instance issue.

    I’ll bet all my savings that it has gotta be late stage capitalism.

    I can confidently say political memes on LW is alright provided you can stomach ML users hopping in to piss in the punchbowl.
