141·5 days agoI am currently reading Anti-Fascist Economics by Isabella Weber and it talks about how fascist politicians exploit prices of essential goods and badly functioning social systems to push a fascist ideology as a change from the status quo.
The fascists will also work with neo-liberals to ensure these trends continue which make the public more susceptible to their propaganda and the proposed solutions to the issues that they helped create.
Like it or not, the price of eggs and gas actually influenced people to vote for Trump, and that was the plan.

11·8 days agoHave fun with your “objective reality” where the meanings of words don’t change over time, nothing new is ever introduced, and everyone all understands eachother and never has disagreements of opinion.

41·10 days agoAgain, that’s not how laws work in America which is why voting for judges is important.
If what you said was true, the voting rights act couldn’t have been gutted the way it was. And abortion rights would still be protected nationally.

42·9 days agoI understand what you mean. Unfortunately, that isn’t how the law actually works. In the US, all laws are interpreted by judges as they like, sometimes even when it seems to expressly disagree with the way the text is written.
It wasn’t until the Thirteenth Amendment that slavery was interpreted as illegal, and even then there are loopholes to that, as slavery is still legal as punishment for a crime.
The Thirteenth Amendment was adopted in 1865. That’s 75 years after the Constitution was ratified in 1790.
