Technology@lemmy.world•Delivery Robot Causes Car Accident With Nine Injuries: "The robot fled, if you can put it that way."English
20·7 hours agoIt’s not “the robot fled”, it’s “a company put a unsafe robot onto a public street and should not be allowed to operate them at least until they’ve proven that their robots are really safe and will not flee from further accidents”

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Everywhere I go I see this stupid AI gen font
21·10 hours agoIt’s the iconic design for this generation and in 10 or 15 years, people will be nostalgic for that
He is the richest guy on earth. He could do anything. Fly his personal airship over the alps. Go scuba-diving at the best spots. Invite the smartest or funniest people on earth for a personal chat. Or he could fund artists. Go jet-skiing in the maledives. Do really cool things. But all he does is spitting insults on Twitter. Which is pathetic

71·16 hours agoCan you explain this? Rust is a programming language, so what do “corporate-friendly licenses” have to do with what programming language somebody is using?
A screenshot from 2018 that has been reposted so often, that it is visibly garbage from all the recompression?

1·1 day agoYou can also phrase it another way: Why shouldn’t you play some random guys polished free game? Why would you play something made by soulless Electronic art MBA dudes who are pushing microtransactions everywhere to milk additional money out of you, build by some generic formula by abused devs (look up “crunch time”) just so that the Saudi royals can get more money?

Technology@lemmy.world•You should absolutely download your favourite youtube videosEnglish
2·1 day agoIt’s not as bad as people are saying. Storage has gotten more expensive, but: 1h of YouTube at 1080p is around 3GB. Storage is currently sitting at 25-30€/TB. That allows you to save 330h of YouTube content, which is a lot.

612·2 days agoI really have to agree. GameDev is hard and takes a lot of skills. If you want to create a video game on your own, you need to know Programming. Game Design. Graphic Design. How to create Music & Sound. Storytelling. Marketing. Some people manage to do that, but it’s hard and takes a lot of experience.
I really understand why people use AI to help them here. If you are not a graphic designer, generate some AI art. If you do not know how to code, use Claude. Ask some AI music tool for background music. That does work and it is totally ok.
People will cry that you can maybe ask artists or musicians for help. Yes, you can do that, but finding and managing a group of volunteers is another skillset that not everybody has. And if you’re working on a hobby project, you might also not have the budget to hire artists for hundreds or thousands of dollars.
The author of the article is right: AI is able to create games. And it is a joy to create your own games.

7·2 days agoyt-dlp is the thing every software is using, so use that. But on Android I would recommend something like NewPipe or PipePipe. Those are adfree alternative Youtube clients where you can watch your videos, but also download them from the GUI. That might be easier than termux

1026·3 days agoIf you take a look at this in detail:

So the AI did exactly that: Added some flashy features like adaptive combat music, a progression system and so on, but also ran a lot of playtest sessions and finetuned the game balance and units with them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ouch: The Raspberry Pi 5 just hit an eye-watering $385English
25·3 days agoAnd they do work like great general purpose computers. They have no moving parts, no fan and linux. So they are robust as fuck. Get the one that is coming in its own keyboard and you have everything you need.

Technology@lemmy.world•The 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 got another ‘unavoidable’ RAM price hikeEnglish
41·4 days agoThey currently are. Just take a look into gaming forums discussing graphic carts and RAM prices and there will be so many people writing that they are happy that they have bought their stuff a few years ago. Which really is not helping
Whatever you are buying: If you have some device in mind, check the idle power consumption. Your server is running 24/7/365. If you buy something with a high consumption, that will be hard on your power bill.
10W = 87,6 kWh a year @ 0,25 Cents = 21,90 per year 50W = 438 kWh a year @ 0,25 Cents = 109,50 per year
That really does matter

This totally is on Google & Co for allowing those scam ads. They can filter those out. They are simply chosing not to.
