  • TAKE A DEEP BREATH! Take a deep breath! It’s okay! I’m a trained professional!

Aight first, LISTEN TO MY VOICE, first we’re gonna wanna open the terminal and type in Alsamixer. Now the problem is that x870 has multiple audio devices! Some might be named something like 'USB Audio" or even “Realtek ALC[numbers]”

Try to find a setting called “Auto-Mute Mode” and disable it!

If this doesn’t work, the good news is like Mint, Pop!_OS also uses Wireplumber! Open up Pavucontrol, which I think Pop!_OS just comes with or at least my friend told me it did, go to the Configuration tab, find the USB Audio tab, and change the profile to “Pro Audio” and then wait a bit and then switch it back to “Analog Stereo Duplex”! This works because it just works.

Lastly it could be a bios thing. Get into the BIOS, go to settings, then advances, and then find the Integrated Peripherals and ensure that the HD Audio Controller is enabled.

And if none of that works, it could be that Wireplumber is borked up and I have what is called a pro-gamer move. On Mint, this ALWAYS works!

    systemctl --user stop wireplumber.service

    rm -rf ~/.local/state/wireplumber

    systemctl --user start wireplumber.service

    Take it easy, gamer.

  • First thing to check is Alsamixer. Get on that mfugging terminal and type in Alsamixer and then hit the F6 key to check if Mint was just being weird and muted anything. I had that happen to me a few times where it muted headphones or speakers on its own.

If that alone doesn’t work, it can help to check if wireplumber and be sure this is enabled.

    systemctl status --user wireplumber.service

If it isn’t enabled, then run

    systemctl --user start wireplumber.service

And if none of that worked, I did find Pavucontrol worked pretty amazingly for me. I just downloaded it and it just worked to just

    sudo apt install pavucontrol

    and then ran

    pavucontrol &

Lemme know if any of this worked. Since you JUST got it, I don’t think it’s anything too crazy.

  • Dude, getting fellow Americans to care about tech rights feels like pulling teeth. It felt like a god damn miracle when I got my parents to care about their LGTV fucking spying on them because others in my life?

“Yeah, they have all our data anyways, who cares?”

STOP WITH THE LEARNED HELPELESSNESS! Take some fucking care in your privacy! Because if you don’t and you are one of the 90% who are blithely accepting this shit, it tells the tech companies they can do whatever they want! You have a duty to care about yourself and others too!

I read a philosophy book. I’d stay and chat more but my government issued transgender girlfriend is about to stream Mewgenics. So ya, I eat ass.

  • Correct, this won’t be. Even 10 years ago when I was on Reddit, people tended to side with Android and androids in 2016 actually did kinda suck. 85-92% of all Lemmy users are that, guys like me who used Reddit when it was good and left when they asked for a selfie to “confirm my age” on my 15 year old Reddit account.

These days, now on the fediverse? Even Apple users hate Apple, Android fans are packing their bags and moving onto either GrapheneOS or SailfishOS, and no one is really a ‘fanboy’ of anything anymore. We hate even the shit we like.

Except me. I’m still a fan of eating ass.
