  • It’s been a few years since she passed, everyone has had a chance to pick out anything they want to keep. Photos and diaries still left have been digitized and shared with any family member who want copies.

I’m actually first to toss physical nostalgic memorabilia, which is why everything ended up with me; other family members want me to make the stuff go away without having to trash it themselves. I accept my family role. Just the idea of doing geneology as a hobby gives me hives, that is absolutely not me or my personality. I think it is super cool and support other people enjoying it, thank goodness everyone is not like me.

I appreciate the offer to take a look, but I’m not going to share the things through Lemmy. I keep this account pseudonymous.

  • Welllll, the Bible does tell of how God uses the rape of innocent women to punish their sinful husband. So if Brand’s the flavor of Christian that believes the Bible contains an accurate representation of God’s character, then Brand is acting perfectly in line with being a Christian.

2 Samuel 12:11, David has slept with another man’s wife and then killed the man, God says he will have David’s wives (concubines) raped in public to punish him:

Thus says the Lord, > ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you from your own household; I will even take your wives before your eyes and give them to your companion, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.

He doesn’t just condone rape or allow for it to happen, he actively makes it happen “I will raise up evil against you […] I will take your wives before your eyes”.

    Reason 725 I deconstructed.

  • Towards Portland and Seattle, the Democratic party Promised Land. I hear they let homeless people ramble about free range, gay people are allowed anywhere, and they have a preference for independently produced music over major labels. The Wild West of leftist debauchery and godlessness.

I assume Democratic party arrows point left to align with the simple left/right political binary.

  • We use Customer Information to provide our Services as directed by our Customers. Depending on the Service this may include:

This means you need the policy from the school itself so you know what’s actually been agreed to that is applicable to your kid’s data.

Communicating with you about Services that may be of interest to you.

Meaning they can sell your data to any who will pay for it.

In the event of a corporate transaction. In the event of a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale or other disposition of all or any portion of our business or assets, we may share Customer Information with acquirers and other relevant participants in the transaction.

Meaning they can pull a 23andMe; if they go bankrupt or whatever, they can sell your data and the buyers can do whatever they want with it.

I’d be defaulting to not allowing my kid’s name to be entered into the program, with a steep uphill challenge to convince me with a very robust contract-specific privacy plan. A single, generic pass than any kid might be using at any given time, I’m still fine with that but no individual-assigned tags that get associated with my kid.

  • Cite religious beliefs and not wanting your kid forced to carry the Mark of the Beast. Rattle off some Bible verses from Revelations, complain about persecution of Christians, and you’ll be set.

Or, you know, give actual reality-based reasons and hope for sensible school administrators. At the very least, I would expect them to share a privacy policy explaining what this third-party has access to and what they can do with the data.

Personally, a single “bathroom pass” NFC card that a teacher hands out to any student in their class that needs a bathroom visit wouldn’t cause me much security consternation; that any student could be carrying the pass at any given time is enough anonymztion for my concerns. I’d be more concerned about germs; a group pass is going to get nasty.
