i mean, it’s a good fit for a utility like this. starts quick, runs fast, small memory footprint… all the benefits of C/C++ but with modern tooling and a sane type system.

my rule is much less strict: more than 3 files gets migrated. large Python projects are a nightmare to maintain, and performance is bad at scale. for quick experiments or data analysis it’s great.
but honestly Nushell has replaced Python for me for the most part, unless i need a specific Python package (and often i can just wrap that in a small runnable script with uv)

record numbers of “how do i connect to localhost from my friend’s laptop” and useless dashboards your devs were too busy to make, tho
comparing Linux to Windows is hilarious.
let me introduce you to Richard Stallman, the OG Linux hater. the author and advocate for GPLv3 thought Linux was too corporate, too compromising to corporate interests.
this world of technology is about compromise. life itself is about compromise. if you want to create your own OS, your own programming language, your own set of standards, go ahead. no one is stopping you.
except, you don’t actually want that. you want text editors, browsers, email, and video games. those things depend on standards, and those standards are shared by other interests, whether you like them or agree with them or are morally aligned with them or not. that’s the sacrifice we make to fly on an airplane or drive a car on public roads or use publicly created software.
look into Free Open Source Software. not OSS, FOSS. there’s a difference. you should be cognizant of the tradeoffs.
heck maybe read some Marx/Engels.
hot take: Reddit has been a “logged-in-only experience” since i started using it 15 years ago. default subs and front page have always been trash brainrot, and the real value of Reddit has always been in niche communities, ie a curated user-specific homepage.
that said, their incessant insistence on brainrot like AITA and AskReddit got me off that platform years ago at this point.
