Is the idea that it’s like pull starting a lawnmower? You have to do it a few times before it takes and the engine turns over?

Without the legal structure of the compact, it would become a complete mess of every legislature fighting over electoral vote allocation methods every 4 years, and it would almost certainly be the case that that would not always be a democratically desirable allocation.
Even if the compact passed, the moment one of the legislatures flips, one of the states could pass legislation to suspend or remove themselves from the compact, and we’re right back to the electoral college.
I’d love to see popular vote as our selection method too - but the interstate compact is a fragile hail mary that, while we should pursue it, is likely not proportionally durable or useful enough to justify the amount of political capital and effort it would take to make reality.

They should absolutely try, but let’s be clear - it would not work.
The moment they do it, it will trigger legal challenges from the red states, which will eventually be appealed to the Supreme Court, which, given its current conservative composition, would rule some bullshit like “The constitution intends for smaller states to have greater representation and this is an illegal end-run around that”, and then the compact is dead forever.
You only get one chance to get a ruling on its constitutionality, and you want to pull the trigger when your odds are best.

Internet: “NNN!”
Me:

He’s appealing to the huge swathes of the public who have absolutely NO idea how to actually identify intelligence.
It’s actually difficult enough where the stupidest people can’t figure it out, and they use confidence, volume, wealth, and flowery language as a proxy.
Even when you do get people to accept that information is an important part, ANOTHER huge swath of people don’t understand the difference between information and intelligence.
In short, there’s a very small part of the population that can even IDENTIFY what an intelligent person looks like, so he gets away with this.

Why do you need so much RAM? Just use fewer programs
Even a broken clock…

Holy shit do people need to get educated on Occam’s Razor.
Gremlins in the Ass

Blabbering blatherscythes!

That’s ridiculous.
ALL of his money is misappropriated taxpayer money.

It’s so lovely watching pedantic, ideologically uncompromising nitwits “scorpion and frogging” us to the end of civilization.
See you all in hell!

The goal is to get you to accept that “your betters” can never do wrong and when you suffer consequences it’s due to a greater plan you are not privy to rather than letting you hold them accountable. The intent is to get you to accept without question the authority and judgement of the powers that be du jour, whether it’s the king, the rich, the state… whatever needs to pacify you enough to keep you productive and docile. Satan therefore represents and embodies all of the human qualities of self-determination and true freedom.

I’m sorry I ever doubted Prince.

Ah, yes. The Jim Cramer of video games says to trust AI.
You know what? Solid point. As long as it doesn’t come at the EXPENSE of bigger fish, I’m all for it.
