Please don’t pull it out

One only needs to look at how people are responding to Linux Torvalds allowing AI in Linux development to see that people really neef to calm down a little with the hate.
Yeah, fuck all AI from the big tech comps, but that doesn’t mean that any and all AI applications are automatically evil or something

If I commit a 100.000 fraud, I’ll go to jail for quite a while
Zucker commits 16 billion Doll in fraud, will he go to jail, and will he go to jail for a fee million years at least?
Of course not, they’ll pay a “penaltiy” tax and that will be the end of it

We can also launch Elmo into space and… Well, just forget about him, good riddance

You want to bring Apple in this? Apple, with the devices that are three-four times as expensive as they should have to be, built with sub-par quality components, because of course, whilst going so far as to adding crypto keys to their hardware to ensure you can’t repair it?

Well, it took me 15 years, but I married her

Thanks for the recommendations!
I’ve been using connect since I switched from reddit to Lemmy some 5 odd years ago or so, and the experience has been quite underwhelming with regular bugs coming and going and I’m really kinda done with it. I’ll try voyager!

I’d go with
Built by weirdos like us for weirdos like us
Here we’re all weirdos

AI (can we just call it LLM please?) on itself isn’t a problem. Its a tool, the end. The problem is how its currently implemented, mostly by big tech who loves razing forrests to built giant data centers that slurp energy and water with no end, all built with so much ram and GPU power that the markets have died. And all of that so that people can mostly cheat on their job or exams, or produce child porn, and of course destroy millions of jobs (I’m in that category, jobless for well over 6 months, can’t find any job anymore)
Fuck all of that, and fuck big tech.
But that doesn’t mean that LLMs are fundamentally evil or something. Its software, its a tool, its basically an interactive distance measurementdatabase.
The problem is not what it is, its how it currently is being used
I saw that picture! Only it was an east European Orthodox priest, I believe, but yeah, he was spraying holy water of sorts on servers

Great, a walk around loophole that soon enough will be closed too

… So dont use mobile phones?

I wonder how long he’ll remain alive
Not saying someone should kill him, he’ll do that himself quite well, I’m just saying that he seems to be sliding of a cliff for a while now. Yeah, ingope he slides faster, buy sliding he is
Fuck Elmo
Us Linux heathens never had any of the letter gods, we just worship the one and only, the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega, the one true god:

Yes but…
Official authorities seem not to do much, if anything at all about this problem of billionaires
Also, if you get doxxed it’s a personal attack on you for usually some shitty reason. If a billionaire gets doxxed, people finally start getting a view on everything they’ve been hiding.
Imnnot crying about billionaires getting problems
I’m. amuxh bigger fan of apparmor. Easier to configure, easier to debug, easier to fix, and as far as I know it gives the same level of security

Because was is cool as long as other do the fighting

Google’s Sergey Brin spent $100m opposing California’s Prop 40, a one-time wealth tax that would put the funds toward healthcare and other public services.
I’m just amazed that this is legal. In my book, Sergei would right now be enjoyingnthe view out of a prison window for that stunt alone…
I think this post warrants the emoji riot police (which would be a great band name)
