Fucking Canadians. Stop sending us all your reactionary conservative shitbags! I bet they voted for Trump.
I will never forgive you for Ted Cruze.

The irony of the Zionist comedian that’s used her “racial identity” to justify genocide being “white” in this. The continuous confirmation that “white” is a made up social construct that is either used to signal to hate for an outgroup; or in her case, remove it as an identity when it’s convenient to use her Jewish “racial identity” as a shield for an emotional support apartheid state.
Also, relevant louis ck from before that video was made; that was basically what the video you linked was ripping off. Kind of blatantly.
Still, appreciate the sharing. Not directed at you. But, fuck Sarah Silverman. And Louis CK is also a weird sex pest.
Though both the video and his standup are pointing to white privilege and racial constructs as comedy. So both are good in a vacuum.

Dude, white Republicans must be fucking depressed. Like, the bigotry is still their, it’s clearly the only thing left fueling them. But God damn. Having to cope with the gas prices, the economic failures, a datacenter poisoning your lungs and ears. Listening to your president talk about his ballroom and golf course renovations on social media all day.
Can we get some “it’ll be ok white people” ads? That’s what Paxton is projecting right now. His entire voter base is too depressed to get off the couch. These red state Republicans never have had to actually try to win an election.
There there Pax. It’ll be ok. We just need some DEI for old white rascist shitbags.

The fairy tale is the doomerism that keeps you from action.
There is no alternative thought here. Not from you. Not from the original comment. It is acceptance of loss and nothing more.
Your criticism is that I am not pre-accepting of defeat. It’s not of AoC as a candidate. It’s not offering a better alternative. It is that I am frustrated with someone repeating reactionary talking points but just saying they are bad.
We know they are bad. I care about working to change them. And accepting defeat as the “inevitable reality” is not helpful.
I’d rather live in a “fairytale” trying to change things than living in a “reality” of doomerism that is nothing more than the last part of your liberal individualism refusing to die.
Grow the fuck up. The fascist are as unpopular as they have ever been right now. Show some backbone and give more than just “it won’t work”. If you got a better path I’m all ears.
I want to end wars and support for genocide. Gimme a better candidate to support. I’ll wait…

Doomerism is just the final stage of liberal thought. It’s reactionary bull shit. It also wasn’t written as a joke beyond just doubling down on reactionary ideas. It was written as a means to give up. I’m tired of that useless type of shit and it’s past 12am here so I’m cranky, unmedicated, and not able to sleep.
I’ll stand by the frustration even if it wasn’t warranted to the specific comment.

We are at the point in which the rascism and sexism that fills the 30% of this country that still supports Trump is convincing the other 70% that a good candidate is impossible.
Stop just repeating the same garbage that they believe as if it’s the reason we shouldn’t support the best candidate with enough name recognition and support to actually win AND create a material change for people in this country trying to pay for groceries.
You’re just being MAGA by proxy.
Mexico has a socialist, Jewish, female president. Mexico isn’t some “woke” fucking country. And it’s definitely not Jewish.
Americans (70%) wants a president that doesn’t fuck them over at every turn and actually offers them something that isn’t tax cuts to the rich.
Grow the fuck up. Don’t tell me we need another fucking Biden or a Neoliberal zionist from California or fucking Georgia. Fucking put me in a camp first.

Honestly, it’s why we are where we are. Why fascism hooked itself to the Trump admin. The capitalist class know. They are preparing.

If we get the point in which AoC is a candidate and we have a fair election. I’m all for it. I’ll keep working towards it.
But, fuck. I feel like any DSA related candidate is gonna be in prison or assassinated by 2028. Half the media is trying to get a random mentally ill American to assassinate Abdul and Omar.
If we get to a 2028 election with AoC able to run, we’re in a better place than I’m expecting. I’ll keep pushing towards it though.
Thanks. I previously worked for Microsoft during a a genocide in which the tech work I did contributed to the Palestinian Genocide. Previously worked. I was fired for speaking out against it. I respect those that are able to be vegan.
However, that being said. The mortality of many vegans that like to grandstand againt someone mentioning “duck fat” does not come from a perspective of the systemic structures that cause the cruelty. They instead see it as an individual moral choice that is apart from the the privilege of the conditions that allow them to be vegan in the first place.
It is, unfortunately, mostly virtue signaling and not based on perspective.
I was fortunate enough to be able to not be at risk for my daughter starving when I spoke out against my companies contribution to genocide. But, I don’t judge the individuals that remain working for Microsoft as “the problem”. I understand that the structures of power force those, even with the same understanding, to remain silent.
This is not to say that I’m not a hypocrite. That I’m not aware that my privilege lets me talk about how I like to cook fries in duck fat because they taste good. I do know that.
But, we all need to prioritize and understand the awful things that are a part of modern western society. I think that “grandstanding” veganism and making it the core of ones personality comes from a good individual moral compass. But, it shows that that person has anchored to a specific harm in order to ignore others. As we all do. Because, if that person had the perspective to understand larger issues, they would be more understanding.
I don’t scream at the college student excited they got a job at Microsoft and yell at them for their support. I understand they are an individual. I don’t treat them as the problem.
Vegans that act like this often are the perfect example of someone that views the world and its problems as a result of individual choices. It is often from a perspective of peak individualism. Which, ironically, is the reason for most of the cruelty that comes from our current social and economic structures.

“Both parties are the same” is incorrect if you are viewing the parties based on their messaging or from a perspective of idealism.
“Both parties are the same” is correct if you are viewing the parties based on the material outcomes of the actions they take and who they serve to benefit.

There may be no “after Trump”. At least not in the way people mean. Meta is currently disconnecting and suspending accounts related to US elections as we are only weeks away from the midterms. From large Senate races like in Florida with Angie Nixon. To local city races in Arizona. They also just did this on the world stage before Lula won in Brazil. Taking down accounts related to his campaign and promoting the other candidates.
Our president is the allowing the son of the fascist dictator in Brazil to be accepted with open arms when fleeing to Miami; and just posted that we need to “save Brazil from Communism” just after a democratic election.
Facebook/Meta has been doing this for decades. But the boomerang has returned. ICE is the boomerang of our direct military actions; especially when it comes to Israel. Our police departments train in Israel with the IDF. The crimes and genocide done to the Palestinians is “training ground” for the brown shirts we have now.
And the broader “left and liberals” in America have less solidarity and resistance in their entire sum population than a single Palestinian child does in their pinky finger.
The left in America needs to realize quickly that our “philosophical victories” will not be praised by the history books.
This is why no one takes Vegans seriously. Like, I don’t really have a problem with being Vegan. I actually respect it. But, do you honestly feel like comments like this do anything to help people understand the cruelty? Seriously. Because it just makes you sound like a crazy person. It doesn’t do anything to help your cause when you respond like this to someone talking about how they like to cook fries.
No, it’s childish and dumb to take a comment about food like it’s an attack on someone’s personal choices around what they eat. I was literally just talking about my favorite way to make fries.
The best fries are made with duck fat. Sorry, it’s true. They are fucking delicious. It will make you ask “is this a normal potato?” They are that good and beyond.

What will be done to Israel and it’s population will unfortunately not even be even as insufficient as Nazi Germany was. Not unless the world changes the way it deals with a society in the aftermath of a genocide.
There was a means of (false) denial of knowledge within the population that could be used as a means of self criticism in Germany. This denial is mostly untrue; but was still reasonable enough for means of recovery. A means of recovery that still allowed for the idealism of liberal thought to operate within. A means of recovery but definitely not a means of justice.
The levels of recovery and justice that Israel would require at this point would give Stalin himself a moment of pause. Not just in his famous “kill all the Nazi officers” comment. But the level of real and justified “reeducation” that would need to be forced on to the Israeli population would need to expand beyond the level that our Liberal ideas of “freedom” could contemplate.
It’s an example of a society that is too sick and beyond repair that the ideas of justice we are taught in the west lack the tools to address.
But I hope we understand this soon. Because the rise of the AFD in Germany should show us that a reasonable denial/acceptance with a reflection on the harms caused is NOT enough. The fascist and racist supremacy needs to be pulled out from it’s root.
Those unable to be reeducated need to be removed from society and influence on future generations. Especially those with wealth and political influence. Their children need to be given a chance to repair the harms and make peace without the corruption of a generation indoctrinated by fascist and racial supremacist ideology.
If we don’t take into account these larger harms; and instead focus on individual “rights” the seed of fascism with continue to spread. Its a parasite that latches on to the ideas of Liberal thought. It will continue to take root unless the anchors it latches onto are removed entirely.
Edit: I say all of this as an American with complete awareness that our society is following a similar path.

History fucking rhymes

We are getting deep into safety design factors here. So I appreciate the conversation. No one else is gonna read this. So I’ll expand a little. Because you are hitting a good point.
What you’re talking about is not another independent point of failure in the scope of “keeping the rider alive”. The “scope” is within the design parameters of a locking mechanism.
In my example of power supplies; the redundancy is around the failure of a single power supply. So the scope is “make sure power supplies operate with ‘m’ levels” of redundancy.
A single portion of the system can have redundancy. And that’s what you’re talking about in your comment. But, to continue with my comparison on power supplies, the power supply arrays has no ability to ensure it’s source power isn’t cut. The redundancy in the power supplies is useless if the power source (central power, substation, electrical grid) is cut. It’s a single point of failure still.
So, “zooming out” to a more macro level we would want to ensure redundancy there. Backup power generators being the obvious answer.
Do you get my point? There can be redundancy in the single restraint mechanism (just like redundancy in my power supply array) but the “seat belt” is similar to the “power generator”. It’s another separate level of redundancy.
I hope that makes sense. I zoomed out my analogy from its original intention based on your interpretation of it.
Either way. I like these conversation. When talking about design and safety there is a “scope” that is important to understand. That we assume the same safety requirements are met at the point of which we have no control over or are not considering in that design. It can be outside of the “scope” that the design is meant to control. So, reading a safety standard on a specific locking mechanism is within that “scope” but assumes further safety and redundancy beyond its given scope. Just as we assume a hospital will have backup power generators when designing a single power supply array. A safety standard for a locking mechanism will have redundancy built into it; but assumes, outside of its design scope, that there is further redundancy in “keeping the rider in the seat”. Because it’s entire goal is “keeping the rider in the seat”. The locking mechanism redundancy is tighter, factored around if X part of the mechanism fails then Y part ensures the rider is contained.
Hope that makes sense. All systems will have a single point of failure. The point is to understand the scope of which that system is meant to operate in and add redundancy to it. If we “zoom out” enough all roller coasters safety systems will fail if the ride is hit by an astroid from outer space. The point is in understanding the scope of the system and adding redundancy in multiple independent mechanisms. The scope being “multiple independent systems of restraint”. Which is what the seatbelt adds.

All that’s fine. But, the point is redundancy. It’s not about the safety factor of an individual restraint. You can have the strongest and most reliable safety mechanism; you still design safety around having multiple independent points of failure.
The “seat belt” is a restraint that is not doing anything 99.999% of the time. For some people, that might seem like a “unnecessary” part as the comment I was replying to stated.
But that’s the entire point. And a secondary form of restraint that is independent is the entire point. I just wish someone didn’t have to die before that happened.
What the corporations talking heads decide is “necessary” is not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about safety from the perspective of an engineer.
I use to work in power systems and designed redundant power supply arrays. For some customers, like hospitals, they don’t just factor in a “n+1” (n active with 1 redundant) redundancy. They require a “n+m” (often with m>n) redundancy because of the critical operation of their power infrastructure. Because operating standards and regulations force them into maintaining this level redundancy.
Meaning, an array of power supplies that needed 4 power supplies to operate would have 4 or more additional redundant power supplies doing “nothing” most of the time. Because you don’t design around “the average day”. You design systems like this around “the worst possible day”.
So, when the dumb guy that plugs in the wrong power cable, ignores the flashing lights, burns a power supply, and then thinks “hmmm not working, let me try plugging it into another one.” When that dumb guy comes around. People in the hospital have the best chance of survival.
Money has always been fake; but it’s never been as fake as it was today; and will be even more fake tomorrow.
