This is like owning a million pounds of dog shit and making sure you lock your garage so nobody steals it while you are out.
There has to be way more info out there on the internet now than in 2001, but because of these kinds of assholes it’s mostly unsearchable, and locked in walled gardens. I hope someday soon Reddit is met with more laughter, dismissal, and cringing than an AOL email address. I hope Spez eats some of that South American beef and shits himself.
What’s wrong with AOL mail? It’s been fine for me as a free e-mail provider. Clean webmail interface, app passwords for IMAP and SMTP (Though Thunderbird can also do OAuth2, apparently. It doesn’t work for me.), 1TB of storage. You just have to opt-out of marketing e-mails. They WILL send them. A lot of them. I’d consider it better than Gmail.
Everything changes I guess. Good to hear that it’s solid now. There was a time when AOL was not ahead of the pack and was kind of seen as a remnant of the dial-up era and one of those old-folk companies.
