This got removed from politics because “Video links are not allowed” apparently? Pretty weird considering that most politicians say stuff on video nowadays and not really writing articles anymore since the invention of the radio pretty much lol. Hope it’s a better fit here, this is the kind of stuff people should be aware of.

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet.
Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well.

So what I’m hearing is that you’re ok with trans genocide. Human rights are non-negotiable.
So what I’m hearing is that you have no solution to the reality of the choices here. It’s either D, R, 3rd party, or not voting. Play out each of those voting scenarios for me. How does it impact the national layout of Congress?
What I’m hearing is that you find the genocide of trans people an acceptable compromise between the 2 major parties. You would rather vote for a Democrat that wants to federally ban trans healthcare than push back against the Democrats even a little.
I don’t live in Iowa, so I don’t know what the other primary candidates were like. Does it suck that this is the winner of the Democrat party? Absolutely, but apparently that’s what a majority of Democrats in Iowa wanted.
No fucking clue, but what the reality of the situation is that either a D or R are going to win this race.
What is your solution to this scenario? Let Hinson win so that there can be even more harm?
The more seats the Republicans win/hold in Congress, the worse off the entire country will be.
You don’t have to live in Iowa for me to understand this, because you’ve already made it pretty clear what side you’d be on if it were a decision you need to make. And it’s not on the side of trans people.
Interesting that there are several people that simply REFUSE to answer what they would do in this scenario.
Given the choice of Turek or Hinson, what would you do?
Don’t give me philosophical what-if scenarios. This is the reality of the ballot box in Iowa.
Turek or Hinson?
I already told you what I would do, you just don’t want to listen. I would go to the polling place and vote, while not voting on this seat. This would be a part of a coordinated campaign that also uplifts the voices of trans people during and after, to make it impossible for the dnc to ignore.
Funny claiming the rights are non negotiable yet you are giving up far more by allowing a republican to win instead.
You might be able to change his mind about trans rights.
You 100% will not change the republicans and they want even more people to lose their rights and care even less about their lives.
I’m loving in the real world where voting has major consequences and trying to deal with reducing the amount of hatred and saving lives. Not voting against republicans will cost countless more lives to be lost.
The Democrat wants the same thing as the Republican. There is no changing either of their minds. I am one of their targets. Don’t fucking talk down to me like I don’t know what I’m talking about.
Really so they are exactly the same? Minus all the much worse stuff that the republicans also want.
But that doesn’t matter to you?
What is your solution?
One of them will win and you don’t care if its the worse one who will hurt more?
Where did I say that they were exactly the same? Why are you being disingenuous?
Your previous message said they want the same things.
What are you going to do to prevent the republican from winning?
What about all the people they will hurt with their policies?
Do you think your life will honestly be better with them in power?
Yea, they both want to strip my human rights away. I didn’t say that they were exactly the same. Different words mean different things.
My life will get demonstrably worse with either candidate, being trans+ myself. We are not your volleyball in the game of politics, we are people.
I’m organizing unions, to build labor power in support of a general strike that CWA, UAW, and other unions are building towards.
Okay so you agree that it would be worse if the republican wins?
When the “good guys” are talking about taking away human rights, there is no better or worse. Only depths of depravity.
Explain how your non vote is going to save their lives? You are okay with it and more by not voting and getting someone even worse in office.
At least voting them in maybe their fellow dems can change their mind. Getting 4 more years of a republican means 4 more years of anti rights and deaths.
My choices would be between “the person that wants to kill me”, and “the person that wants to kill me”. I’m a target of their genocide.
Also where does this person want to kill you? Amazing how you made that up so you don’t have to face that not voting for them will lead to deaths by your inaction
Trans healthcare is lifesaving. It’s really fucking telling that you either don’t know that or choose to ignore it so you can come in on your high horse and tell the trans people that they’re overreacting because a Democrat wants to ban trans healthcare.
In your words one who wants to kill you, and one who wants to kill you and many others and you would rather the second win so you can feel smug about it.
Where is the line? At what point are you unwilling to support a candidate over their anti-trans stance? Banning trans healthcare should be enough.
What are you going to do? How are you standing up for all of those that they are going to hurt over 4 years?
That doesn’t answer the question. At what point is a Democrat’s anti-trans stance unacceptable to you?
It is. But they are both anti Trans and the republicans anti even more.
One of them will take over for 4 years.
Which of those would you rather have power?
Do you not think the dem can have their mind changed?
Both are unacceptable. Voting for either will indicate to the dnc to move right. The only way forward is to show Democrats that people will not vote for anti-trans stances.
