Start with Leon Mofo Hitler and every single DOGE shitbag.
Just the corporates that didn’t donate to them.
Get Vought
☝️
I hope they remember to get that guy. The guy at the center of so much bullshit and fuckery going on under donnie 2.0. Co-author of Project 2025.
Anyone that signed onto that doc should be considered guilty and investigated and prosecuted. They are extremists hellbent on destroying this country.
The cons clutched their pearls over Obama “fundamentally changing America” and then mounted efforts like Project 2025 to actually do that.
My first laugh of the day, thanks guys
All I know is Jeffries and Schumer ain’t it, until the Dems replace them everything is still in jeopardy.
Jeffries is literally buddies with Kushner, a leading AIPAC donation taker, and also beholden to weird Nazi tech bro Peter Thiel, throw the whole dude away.
I did a google search. Then followed it up with Kagi until I ran out of scroll.
Every headline minus a couple fringe items, repeats that Jeffries will be the next speaker.
Almost all of them.
We are so fucked.
I’ve seen a few headlines of congresspeople and congresspeople-elects saying basically that they want to exercise caution and hold some more discussions about who to nominate for the leadership roles.
It’s basically a diplomatic way of saying they’d rather support someone else. Just need to build some consensus on who.
AOC. I’m old and I don’t follow her religiously or anything, but everything I’ve seen is a positive. She’s not as charismatic as some, but that’s ok.
I like her CSPAN footage. CSPAN. Like I said, I’m old.
There was a good video put out by AOC last night about how the speaker is voted for, based on that I think the answer is finding out who the caucus leaders are and getting their attention, because the voting basically comes down to all of the cliques of Congress/Senate getting together to decide who is speaker/Majority Leader, so we need to get in the ear of the leaders of those political cliques within the Democratic party, because based on AOCs responses, the cliques have the power and the smaller cliques and independents are on the outside looking in.
They have such a commanding majority that they could leave 40+ members out. If the progressives have any guts they would hold their vote hostage to reconsider other choices. It would look pretty bad if there was a wave and then a fresh speaker battle so it might motivate them to reconsider.
Not saying that is not a foregone conclusion but your method is flawed here.
Every search and headline today would be parroting what he said yesterday. There literally has not been any time for anyone to say differently in public (even if asked, most would not voice an opinion on election day)
If I search today, like you did, looking for the orange pedophile’s response to the midterm election, it would seem he will respect it and allow the transfer of power… however, he may change his syphilitic mind and throw another insurrection tomorrow
There has been time. There’s one UK opinion piece on infighting between Dems.
There’s one Indian news site that brought up the change.org petition to not have Jeffries.
There’s an ex Bernie campaigner site that has a “Progress stops with Jeffries” headline.
That’s it. But if they’ve had time, everyone has had time. They’re choosing to rally behind Jeffries. But that’s corporate media working their damnedest after the fact, because he’s their dam on the tsunami. So, full headline support.
Change.org is typically a point of interest. Note how the 450k signatures overnight are ignored by American media.
See… just a little more time was needed
https://newrepublic.com/post/217644/calls-replace-jeffries-schumer-explode-democratic-wins
New republic is a fringe publication only Redditors (and their Lemmy defectors) read.
This is one of the main points of news that hold info the middle of the bell curve block of the public do not consume.
Meaning, for the purposes we are discussing now, it may as well not exist.
That’s it. But if they’ve had time, everyone has had time.
You mean the 3 examples you found from people either not in the USA at all or one standalone campaigner? yes, how is it that the people running for a historic election are not already working and posting publicly about this specific thing?!
Change.org is typically a point of interest. Note how the 450k signatures overnight are ignored by American media.
The petition has 49K not 450K; but I think it’s typical to be ignored because I can sign it and I am Canadian… there is almost no legitimacy to these online petitions
PS: turns out there are, at least 2, petitions against Jeffries.
The one you point out with 450K signatures is 2 months old (so not overnight)
The one I found, is from yesterday, and has 49K so far
May I suggest that, if you are posting some backing evidence, post directly to it, not to an open repository
https://www.change.org/p/house-democrats-choose-a-new-speaker
Also the corporate run news is going to pretend like the corporate choice for speaker is inevitable.
Maybe it’s time for the Democrats to go through the equivalent of whatever internal civil war process put Mike Johnson in the chair.
They would sooner exile every progressive than let that happen, just look at the lack of alarm bells when one of the progressives is being unlawfully investigated for deportation.
“They” lost a lot of seats to the progressives, too. All these new representatives join forces with the returning progressives, and the corporate establishment won’t look quite so inevitable.
There is a petition with half a million signatures on Change.org if people want to sign. I know it probably won’t do much, but it might feel more cathartic than posting on Lemmy. https://www.change.org/p/house-democrats-choose-a-new-speaker
Or better yet, call your representatives and tell them you will primary them in the next cycle if they vote for Schumer or Jeffries for Majority Speakers.
Resistbot petitions are better because they’re sent directly to your representatives.
Change.org petitions aren’t worth getting on our enemies radar for, they don’t change anything, and even the media stopped paying attention to them, and that was the main thing they were worth.
Calling reps is better, but my reps are MAGA dirtbags, and most public leaders don’t care about folks outside of their constituency calling them outside of the increases in call volume, Schumer and Jeffries know that we think they’re shit, they’re paid by AIPAC and others to not care, people should be calling the caucus leaderships, because some of them aren’t compromised yet, and they’re the ones voting for Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader.
Ultimately we have to make noise while not having anymore platforms of our own, having government/politicians we don’t trust, and journalists who are derelict in their duties. We still have an uphill battle to keep fighting.
reviewing a plan to investigate. Yeah, nothing’s gonna happen
My god in heaven, give them a chance. An investigation cannot happen without this step, so at this point in time they have literally done everything they can.
You doomsayers and doubtcasters are the absolute worst
You’re right, sorry for being a pessimistic asshole.
You are a real one. I hope we normalize taking responsibility for our shit in real time. Thank you for modeling that for us.
Props for that, I appreciate it. I know how easy it is to give in to despair and assume nothing good will come of this sort of thing, because historically it’s been rare. But the important thing to remember is that MAGA and the corrupt corporate democrats want you to feel like that because it makes their jobs so much easier. Keeping the hope is a direct stand against them, so it’s worth it for that reason alone. But I’ve found that once you start to vocalize it, and see others vocalize it, it makes it easier to actually believe that things can get better. Especially after the midterms we just had.
I also apologize for coming at you so strong. I’ve been seeing so many people trying to break the hope, and I’ve been trying to push back against it, and it’s just exhausting and frustrating 😅
np, it was me who came with the 'tude in the first place. Just had a rough day and it’s easy just to write shit on the internet. Usually I am against doomerism, but this time fell for it. It’s easier to just give up, but we shouldn’t.
Yeah it’s definitely been harder to try to stay positive about the state of the world recently, especially on rough days. If you can, try to find folks expressing hope, and add your voice to theirs, if possible, as well. If it’s still just too hard of a day, just unplug as much as possible, but still try to keep the hope alive internally.
Either way, I hope your day improves ❤️
give them a chance
They’ve had 50 years to increase taxes on the wealthy to pre-Reagan levels while our debt EXPLODES. Monopolies haven’t been busted since the 80s. They’ve just spent God knows how many tens of millions of dollars fighting a billionaire tax in California (and they won)
I don’t think you’re the worst, but I do think you’re adorable. Never change.
I don’t plan on changing, don’t worry. With your way we’d just be trying to make snappy comebacks to each other while the world dies around us.
If being adorable helps bring about actual change, then all I have to say is UwU
Well. I’m certainly always persuaded when employees investigate their employers…
This is like when the police investigate themselves.
Will the investigations be inversely based on how much money they donated to the the democrats?
Jeffries IS the corporate protection plan for the blue tsunami.
Exactly. This just seems like a foreword to let them know new donations are required with the changing of the guard and to plan accordingly.
Wow, that’s their do nothing plan? Good odds it will take 2 years to investigate. And be something they can talk about as needed.
Let’s get this done. H1B visa abuse. Any public funding near Musk All companies owned, operated or involving any member of the administration. Every entity and person worth more than 500k who donated to the administration. All visitors to MaraLago or who have golfed with tRump. Every merger or acquisition that has occurred in the last two years. Every bank and insurance company. The entire food chain. Black rock …
… But whether Democrats will go along with this strategy remains unclear. Moderate Democrats have argued that the Biden administration’s aggressive crackdown on corporations drove potential allies into the Republican camp and helped contribute to Trump’s reelection in 2024. A similar agenda in the run-up to the 2028 presidential election risks alienating many Americans and squandering the advantage on the economy Democrats have finally seized after Trump’s tariffs and war on Iran, said Ben Ritz, vice president of the Progressive Policy Institute, a centrist think tank…
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, told The Washington Sun that his staff has been reviewing potential investigative opportunities but also downplayed the extent to which Democrats plan to attack businesses.
“We’re not targeting particular corporations,” Raskin said. “We’re targeting systems and networks of corruption, and to the extent corporations are involved, they are subject to the oversight project of Congress and our subpoena authority like everyone else.”
Do they have good people looking into it? The best? Really, seriously, nobody has ever seen people this good at investigating before because they’re gonna find all the corruption?
Don’t tell me about plans you hope to have, show me the fucking results.
No. It’s their headline plan and byline to repeat while they DO NOTHING for 2 years, keeping the Republican seats warm in the meantime.
My partner told me in the same sentence as the blue tsunami news. I chose to hope. That’s gone now. Reality has taken over.
It’s going to be another crushing 2 years if the progressives don’t fight the Dem old guard. It’ll just be a game music off crush, quieter this time.
So look, I’m ambivalent right now.
Blues are incoming. This is better as at least things will stop getting actively, aggressively worse since Reds won’t have full free reign. I will take what victories I can right now.
However, your entire point remains entirely undisturbed. I don’t believe they will actually do much. What keeps me ambivalent versus bitter is that nothing has had a chance to happen yet. They haven’t been sworn in, nothing but words have been thrown around yet. Talk all you want, I’ll believe it when I see it.
People didn’t believe AOC was gonna be anything. Now I’m not glazing her, but those same people also predicted she would fail immediately. All I said was she has to make it through her first term before we can really take a measure of the girl, and look where we are now. Those folks were wrong and she is a voice that people have no choice but to reckon with one way or another as she has a following and sway within it. Like her or not, those are facts.
There is a glimmer here, and I think what we can expect from the voting public of this generation is the genuine desire for not the same old shit. That’s why we got Trump in the first place; he wasn’t the same old fart who made empty promises. He came in with passion and common speech rather than boilerplate PC phrases and promised to change the status quo. Monkey’s Paw activated on that one for those who voted Trump, but I am seeing that in the current vote as well.
Again, I’ve got no crystal ball to see how it will turn out, but the hope I once had has somehow limped its way out of the rubble of this administration. Doesn’t mean it’ll get very far, it just isn’t dead yet, y’know?
